If you have a legal account, then you can simply redownload the vanilla client here and connect with that.
If you're worried about it overwriting your "modding client," then simply create a batch file like this, and run the vanilla client through that.
set APPDATA=%CD%\data
start %CD%\bin\client.exe
cls
exit
^ Only one backslash.
The directory should be like this:
Minecraft
-BIN (folder)
-minecraft.exe (inside bin)
-DATA (folder)
-playminecraft.bat

i can connect fine with a modded client
(minimap-mod, itemspawner-mod and additional contend-mod)
although since yesterday i cant reach the server =/

Really i have two versions on my Desktop i have on that is set up like you suggested but just adds a companion to the single player and sets it to the appdata thing, safly bypassing the one allready there, and the modding client which is made for hadling mods easier by removing the need to "log in" with a premium acount.
P.S next time ur on pm me coz i need help with modding a server

A whitelist is being enacted as so to control the player base better. If I missed you, or if you're a late comer to the party, post your IGN, and i'll add it to the whitelist.

just saying, it used to be against the rules, or at least frowned upon by the staff to even mention other online games in chat.
Now we can devote entire forums to them???
this really is not bothering me as much as i make it out to. Im just looking a few steps ahead.
Player A makes a Minecraft forum for DS players in Minecraft. Player B makes a EvE forum, for DS players in EvE. Player C makes a WOW forum. Player B and C get shut down, and cry about player A.
Plus im a little erked about Minecraft taking up a topic in the latest topics box.
