err that model starting to look smooth instead of blocky/bulky, looks like icc/ugto hybrid now :/

The upper pylon supports look much more UGTO-style than ICC. ICC are sharp and angular, not curvy and smooth like that.

I like how it sorta resembles the "Operative's" flagship in Serenity. Looks pretty nice.

The latest revsion is very nice, although I see a lot of places where you could probably save some polygons and bring it down by maybe 500+.

Could you email me the current model so that I can give you some better feedback on how to improve this design?

Yeah. 3DMax smooths it out somewhat. And if I switch to facet, it becomes patchy.

I'll need to reshape the hull to make it more blocky and rework that arc.

Sure. I appreciate that.
There are a few polygon errors here and there.

How about I turn the file over to you completely so you can rework it?

Latest Update:

Taken into account comments about hybrid ICC/UGTO styling, so....

- Redone to ICC styled nacelles and pylons
- Top engine nacelles redone in M300 style
- Lower pod includes fighter launch and recovery ports
- Rngine thruster nozzles detailed
- Hull redesigned

Now we're really getting somewhere interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing the nosecone replaced with an open maw to the internal bays, but that's just me. Not sure if that would gel with ICC design.

ok this last model is really nice... though would break the nose up more...

The other one, with the circles and the greeble effects the polys would be way to high for ds.

Better, but i think a few more angles would make it more ICC like

Very nice work Kenny. +Rep

Am I the only one who thinks this would make a killer destroyer design?

I am loving the 2010-06-06 version... Only change I would like is if the "wings" where beefed up a little. I don't know if you already discarded that one, but I think it's the best!

Lose the greeble effects. They are a huge waste of polygons.

The body of the model itself is actually about as optimized as you can get.

There are a number of flat areas on the nacelles where you have 18 polygons that could easily be reduced down to 2.

The long rear recesses of the carrier nacelles have an 8 polygon cap. The could be reduced to 2 polygons. The walls of the recesses coudl also have the poly count cut down in a similar manner.

The front nacelle recesses are currently using a * shaped face. The end cap for this could be removed and simple replaced with a two polygon square that is bigger than the gap it is covering. The curved effect is then simulated via texture (You could consider doing this cheating on the mesh integrity - but the inside of the model doesnt have to look pretty, only the outside).

The rear thrusters are too polygon heavy.

The fins/towers need to be worked on to reduce the polygon count, otherwise the overall model is a good and solid effort.

P.S. Listen to Tael. If he suggests a change, please try to make it, although also ensure that you back up the file before make any big adjustments. We will often work through 5-15 variations of a finished model before choosing something that we are satisfied with.
