Update for the Achilles.
- Enlarged the aft sections and engines (and fins too )
- Added in ICC colors, touched up a bit on texture
- Added in some sensor fins on the bow and behind the bridge

Is it possible to give a size comarison to M-300 and M-400 dread series? Because Athena looks bigger than a Heavy Cruiser and Achilles is about the size of a frigate to me, or maybe I lack a bit of imagination.

Oh man... you're asking me to model an M300/400 ??! O_o
QQ
Lemme see if I can use Photoshop to do something like that. Or maybe someone can.
The Constellation should be of the same length as the M400. The M300 is abt 200m shorter, IIRC. The Athena is of the same length as current cruisers but has more mass because of the round hull.

No, not really, but even a rough sketch would be enough.

Can always cut out the profile image on the screenshot here (http://www.darkspace.net/shots/special/IRecog.jpg). Or I can provide a clean render of it from the resourcer.
(might be able to import your model and scale it per your specifications and then provide a rendered comparison)
((but i don't have a file of the m3/400 dreads, nor could I give it if I did..))

OK, so YIIMM provided me with some views of the M300 dread. So I took sideshots of all the ships I created then scaled the M300 accordingly.
So the ships from top to bottom are:
M300, Achilles, Constellation, Athena, Kraken, Carapace, Pincer
Looking at this, I realize that, as pointed out by some ppl, my Constellation dread is indeed a little flat. So I'll work on something to provide a little more vertical structures to give it more depth/height.

but I like the flatness and oddly enough it looks icc..ish ?o.O?
edit: raise the top aft pod little and that may solve the problem of it being so flat [ This Message was edited by: James296 on 2010-07-30 23:10 ]

Interestingly enough, some people are saying that ICC ships are supposed to be blocky and industrial.
The M300 seems to be a variation from the norm.
It's either that, or ICC truly takes from whatever civilian vessels that they can and convert them into warships, creating a hodgepodge of varying vessel types and designs.
I hope that the ship designs I have put forth fit the mold.

In the DS backstory, the M-300 dread and the Escort/Minelayer destroyer hulls are the predecessors to the more angular styled ones.
Based on the focus for a lot of the developmental shots you can find on IGN, I'd guess that that was the original look for the ICC (could be wrong).

i think when the ICC first rebeled, they took civilian ships and refit them, they also made their own warships though, as i believe one cannot create a whole armada out of refit civilian vessels, and some civilian vessels don't come in dread size, ect.
the newly rebeled confederation had little time to develop their design philosophy so their early ships were influenced by ugto design, because they only recently broke off from the ugto.
After the war was over, (thinking 2nd or 3rd war) the ICC could research and develop their own philosophy of design, like how 2 isolated populations of a species begin to evolve slightly different, until ICC ships bore little influence of UGTO ships
Since the escort/minelayer destroyer and the m-300 are old models, they look ugto-ish with a small amount of influence from what little design modifications from ICC technology
if this is true, these blocky ships can't really be old icc vessels unless they were the forerunners/prototypes of modern icc design that never met combat

The ICC/K'luth/UGTO recognition diagrams are amazing. Can't believe I haven't seen them before!

To be honest here Kenny, while the ICC ships looks absolutely stunning you really should focus on K'luth ships
Light of aurora seems to be covering UGTO and ICC only so give some loving to K'luth
