Thanks Mith!
I made a note in the original post...

Question: how are you determining initial (Frigate) matchups? Are you doing any sort of matching based on skill, random, in order or signup, or at player request? Just curious. (Of course it shouldn't really matter since in theory the best player will still win regardless, but it could at least affect consolation prizes)

Well, If Crim and Coeus both signed up they would be on opisite sides, but basically if I don't really know the persons skill or whatever I would do it at random. If two opponents requested to be placed together I could try to do it if the space is avalable... Faction changes is still a slight issue, Beta for some reason is Clan: Yes [ This Message was edited by: JBud on 2009-04-07 09:06 ]

- If you capture your opponent it is concidered a technical knock out and you will advance to the next round, so don't forget your elite infantry!
in beta?

Ganglia vs a Combat dread. Umm. no tx.
Why is ICC not forced into a Carrier Dread, as UGTO and K'luth are?
*edit*
Had wrong faction

Please read the rules and other posts before replying.
These decisions were made based on the current balance in BETA.
I'm positive by your statement that you did NOT read the rules, so please just don't post unless you know exatcly what your talking about
The Agincourt and Fleet Carrier are similar in balance, and if I were to force anything it would be the aggy, but I gave the option. the reason K'Luth don't have another option is because the mandible while not a Dread2 is assault style and the siphon, krill, and brood are all Dread2s I would also like to point out that a mutual assault fight can be agreed on by two contestants
I gave ICC the Combat Dread, as it is the best option for a duel, and ICC are lacking in defensive capabilities at the moment, so the combat dread is slightly more powerful weaponwise to the Carrier/Aggy, and the Ganglia is nearly perfectly balanced with the ICC Combat Dread.

I re-read your rules. If they aren't on the first thread, updated, then that's your problem.
I didn't see anywhere where it said that the ship balance in beta would be used. I saw that it would be IN A BETA SERVER. Maybe I missed it.
Secondly, the snippy replies are precisely why I woun't get involved in the event. If YOU are the one running it, forget it. And it is exactly because that is the only attitude I have ever seen from you, unless you are kissing somebody's (staff's generally) hind quarters. Your quick tempered, easily offended, and never take the time to fully understand a thing somebody tries to ask or tell you.
And it is also for your judgement. The last event still chaps my hide, and it wasn't what Meko did, or Starluck. It was you, and even worse your responses and manner toward El and anyone about it afterwards. You are just too immature. And that is why, unless the event is staff run, I woun't touch it. Sorry, that is my position. I know it means little to you.
And again, I did re-read your rules, so if I missed where it said current beta balance would be used, my deepest, most sincere apologies.

[*] Notes Regarding Ships Permitted:
After testing over the past few days I found a weakness in ICC shields, the weakness is most present in ICC Dreadnoughts. Thus I have lowered the class of the UGTO and K'Luth ships, for the Dreadnoughts, to Sub-Combat... This may change pending farther testing with ICC shielding, or any updates. |

This was after I placed the notice that the event will be held in beta.
I'm sorry about how you feel about me, I generally try to be fair on all ends. Tough decisions are made.
As for my re-actions towards you, I put ALOT of planning into these events, by the time they are posted in the forums you are seeing the tip of the iceberg rising out the water. And when I get someone who, after all my work, Just says I am not suited to run the event myself. I can re-act poorly, you can understand poor re-actions can't you?
I will be honest I want to be able to do what you want and be the event staff that you so badly want and doesn't really exist as a designated "job". There are just a few staff who support events ran by players, and sometimes, on a rare occasion, plan and run them themselves, but they are also devs admins and moderators with a million things to do, there is no one assigned to events.
Read your edit, The above quote of the rule in the main post will enlighten you to this decision. [ This Message was edited by: JBud on 2009-04-07 18:02 ]

If for some reason I can't make it, I'll do my best to get alternate coverage.

Might want to add the UK times to that..
Because looks like SaturnShadow isn't good in calculating time
Day1: 20:00 - 23:00 - BST/UTC+1
Day2: 19:00 - 22:00 - BST/UTC+1
(British Summer Time)
