Don't fix bombing. Fix gates and wormholes instead!

The system we have (easy bombing) can be made to work if we make two small changes:

1. Any gates connecting two systems controlled by the same faction cannot be used by any other faction than the one which controls those two said systems.

2. Wormholes can only be made into systems which are "contested." A contested system is one in which one or more wormholes in the system lead to a system controlled by another faction.

This would concentrate the fighting, and ensure that factions won't be running all around their territory trying to rebuild random planets that got bombed by a lone bomber deep inside enemy space (which makes no sense anyways).

The in-game explanation for this is simple. Gate control. It would make sense that a faction would control its gates to prevent enemies from traversing their own space at will.

Two examples to clarify:

1. UGTO controls Barnard's Star and Cincinnati. No faction other than UGTO may use the Barnard's Star-Cincinnati gate.

2. UGTO controls Lalande and ICC controls Ross 148. Any faction may use the Lalande-Ross 148 gate, and any faction may wormhole into Lalande or Ross 148.

in other words, yall will have a hell of a time trying to cross our boarders to bomb, idiots! lol naw i have a better idea Link all the systems to jumpgates that way some of us dont have to long jump and the failure of wormholes will be reduced and so will HMA's

actually i like this idea , it concentrates fighting...cuts down on loner bomb attacks which require a fleet of engineers to repair the damage done by a skilled (is you can call it that) bomber and a sup can do.gives a bit more tactical meaning to controlling systems rather than now all someone does is find a backwater system to glass when noones around.

not a bad idea indeed but i still think the bombing issue needs to be addressed if only in minor detail

I see what your getting at and it would work only .. and only on the Complete removal of all Gates, WH's and natural WH's.

which Imho, arent all that great for DS. cus of the people who get enjoyment from camping gates.. but what i think is fun and what someone else thinks are 2 different things.. but thats really the problem when it comes down to restricting Travel acess. or makking it harder for people to travel.

I prefer a more tactical approach, plan a mission, fleet up, get all the ducks in a row and jump out.

but im a GA, I think like a GA.

New blood is needed, and from the perspective of a newbie the Gates and the WH's are a god send. (even though there ships are designed for long distance travel.)

kudos.. but no Cigar

my 2 cents..

Why is the successful implementation of this idea contingent upon no gates? I fail to see the correlation.

There is an even easier solution to this problem, one which I remember F already has suggested I think some time ago.

Or was it Tael..anywho...

The idea was that jumpgates were player build, as well as destroyable, and engineers had to jump across to another system in order to build it.

Basically, you can connect jumpgates manually wherever...if you can make the trip.

Also, I think a good idea would be to make systems so far apart that it takes 3-5 wormholes to reach even the closest systems.
