oh, the other thing to consider: AMs have a 40gu splash; P and F have only 20gu.

That splash comes in handy.

However, I did a check of the numbers.. and AM torps are only better for one volley. Over time, namely after six seconds, F torps are already averaging better damage than AM torps would.

IF they hit. Torps can be easily dodged, ill get to that.

This is, of course, assuming average damage - which you may be lucky and have all your AMs hit for max while the F guy has them all hit for minimum - then you've got a big difference. But with averages, F torps kick the others' butts.

It actually falters here...
F torps, while do great average damage over time...will never hit. In an EAD going full speed I can pretty easily dodge them. And due to their very small splash, rarely does much damage.
On the other hand, AMs have a wide splash radius, meaning if you detonate them cause they miss (they do), you still do quite a bit of damage.
As such, you often do more damage with AMs than F torps...cause you actually do damage with AMs.

F torps will come closer to your dread than any other. AM torps go slower and track slower, so they will get no were near 40gu.

Problem is that a dread can still dodge them. And anything smaller than a dread can dodge them effortlessly.

Any dread running at max speed to dodge torps is gonna run out of energy quickly. Thats why I use ftorps. Makes it so dreads can only run at max speed to evade, lessening their chance of hitting me and wasting energy.
