DarkSpace is not going away. No it hasn't shut down.
In 6 years I have only seen this happen one other time for this length of time. Faustus will get it back up and going. I believe Shig is back from travels now. Backslash I'm sure is lurking about as well. I'm pretty sure that they can all manually restart and do other server things.
As I write this, its 5:30 AM in Texas. I live in Houston, Austin is..oh...2 1/2 hours maybe? away. That's where Faustus resides. He probably hasn't rolled out of bed yet. And its raining like crazy atm, so if he's a rain sleeper...j/k.
I'm guessing the Intergalactic Server Warning System was disabled, allowing him peacful sleep while all ya'll (yes, that is the plural form for ya'll, all ya'll) have stressed out from DS withdrawals.
I hope this teaches you a lesson. You like DS more than you admit. So give it a day off, ragging on it 
On a side note, this is kinda cool. Usually the website goes down too...we have like...a lobby thread now.....
But seriously, be patient, staff will get it back, and we'll be rumbling again soon. Faustus and the staff won't let us down. Just gotta give them time....

i did futher explore in folder for darkspace and one of the icon says just darkspace dbl click it and it says unable to find gqcl server please reinstall i did that and it still does not work. so is it possible that the lobby file is like either misplaced or deleted

I that were the case you wouldn't see so many others of us (like EVERYONE) unable to log in. I wouldn't go messing with all that.
Now when GCQL comes up, don't forget to dl the updates.

when i dbl click the desktop icon it installed the updates then says cannot find server please reinstall

Palestar.com has not been working since a server change a while ago. I think this is more of a virtual host problem not configured than DNS server problem.
But what i think is that the entire Dedicated server that F rents might be Down...
Or he forgot to pay the bills, but that is unpossible!

We will get the meta-server back up and running as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, only Faustus and I beleive Tael have access to the web interface and VPN that will allow them to diagnose and deal with what has gone wrong. The rest of the game staff rely on tools that run via GameCQ.
As we cannot log in via GameCQ, what we can do ourselves is very limited.
The game servers are still running, although I would not recommend attempting to connect to these directly as it may cause further issues with the game system.
Please be patient while we work to address this issue.
Meanwhile, feel free to use BackSlash's Shoutbox at the DSCW if you are suffering from LoWS (Lobby Withdrawal Syndrome).
Your patience is much appreciated.
