Well, considering we're increasingly trying to specialize ships, and thus encourage teamwork, I don't think this will get anywhere.
And in fact, the command dread is a good example of a ship type we want to move away from, since it allows people to do too much without any help. It may be good for the antisocial player, but that is contrary to our design decision.

As for the Lenna-Phoebus spat, Phoebus is correct in his assertions in the latest post, at least insofar as Dev design goals are concerned.

I dont think an uber ship is really wanted..

Im thinking more of a 5 reload, 2 builds kinda ship. One that allows the GA to help out in space or around a planet that is being bombed/assaulted. He can rebuild twice as fast, he can reload himself/others quite quickly.

We need more ideas of SUPPORT not ATTACK. We dont need the GA's running around in uber-fied ships. They dont need a new ship to be uber. They're GA for a reason you know . Give em something special, a REAL Support Station.

I agree with something special, letz combine support and assault in a station and or ship.

Make a Station like before the patch.

You remember?

If anyone at the Server said: STATION or HIVE, you knew that there is coming something real strong, something for what you need more than 2 dreads before it got owned.

I just want to hear the sound of STATION or HIVE again.

I know that a GA dont need 100 pres per minute, but it is a hard way to get there and i want something which make that work honourable.
Something where players think: "hmmm, alone i will have never a chance
i will need some reinforcements to own it.

Thats what i want. I dont want to fly a uber frigate or uber scout, or only a big support ship.

Or perhaps a GA get 2 or 3 slots to every ship which are free modable.

I'm been thinking about a GA ship for quite a while now and I came up with a relatively easy plan

let's make it a station with a mass limit:

it can have a certain amount of weapons/armor/devices, etc fit.

each device/weapon etc. will have a mass number attached to it, so the really powerfull weapons will take far more mass than the weaker ones. so It'll never be a real UBER station but still quite stronger than the support station we currently have.

The point if this is to reflect the GA's value by giving him "freedom"

I know this will take some programming and some tweaking with the numbers once it (would) be implemented but other than that it would really make a GA something special.

what do you think?

I like the ideal of a Suupport Stations and i will try to design a sation layout and possable station designs also. Some of you know how good at drawing i CAN be.

I'm currntly thinking of a station that instead of tall, it would be maybe twice a long as a Dread. Once the docking command is FIXED ONE ship smaller than a crusier can dock WITHIN the station ONLY to be repaired, once repaired the ship AUTOMATICLY comes back out. For cruiser and dreads it will dock beside the side of the station and be rapaired, BOTH will happen automaticaly with two supply drone bays, only ONE ship can be within or docked to be repaired. The sation will have point defence beams to ward off Missles and Fighter's AND sheilds or armor to whitstand a Dreads alpha Attack twice before it begains to take Major damage. The weapons on such station will be VERY VERY light it MIGHT be able to take out small ships like dessies and below.

And for a possable offence stations we have a station like the current station. It will have reduced inf cappacty Worm hole device, normal drives, heavy beams on all four sections NONE will be full, some torp or other heavy weapon slots on all four sections NONE FULL. Some light defence beams on full, NOTE only the lighter beams are full. Maybe ONE drone bay for a reload or supply slot. Possable a Fighter bay or two for planet or ship attacking.


I hope that these ideals will be helpful and work with the newer Verson that is about to come out. Since the Dev's are getting away from Full arc weapons the only weapons that are Full will be defence beams, drones and fighters.

I suggest something for every ship type... because i mean face it... everyone thinks... rank=BIGGER ships... but not always better ships...

this way it can be rank=BETTER ships... thats what it should be...

Agreed , more tactical options, not more uber.

My suggestions. Q-Ships, looks like an unassuming, engineer, transport or supply, but swaps special slots / storage space for extra armour/shields, weapons or different special . By acting as bait, it draws a lot of attention from the enemy, it should be a match for destroyer closs foes, but to survive it needs the skill and experience of being a senior player.

i.e
- A Transport ship with no troop capacity extra shields/armour but packing some torps, say 2 forward or lateral and 2 rear firing torps.
- An Engineer with WH device instead of Build & JD, to rapidly bring in a counter ambush force.
- A Supply with a dictor, instead of drones.

or some more specialised ships.

Decoy Cruiser, similar to dictor in layout but swaps the dictor for a Signature generator that allows it to *appear* as any ship on enemy sensors.

A Supply Scout.

A decent comand and control ship, similar to the Command Dreads, with a good selection of special slots, more defense systems, limited offensive capability, something that can take a pounding, while the GA commands and controls the fleet rather that simply trying to survive.

I also like the Skiff idea, it should be fast and well armoured, with a good sensor package, but limited firepower.
