Seeing so many new designs really put me in the mood to make something myself! It's been a while since I last saw any new models.
I've lost the collection of textures I had over the several hard drive reformats and replacements I've done, so this one is solid-colored. I took some ideas from the ICC dreadnought, whose form is vaguely similar at the center of the spread 'wings.' It's spindly shape wouldn't hold so well in combat, suggesting a non-combat role.
I won't pretend to know how to load out a ship this time, because honestly.. I have no idea. :/

I don't know why but i have a feeling that this ship-design is more for an space-anime than for DarkSpace

Looks more like a weapon platform of sorts. Or a turret.
Me like though.

Totally awesome, not darkspacey though. But I still really like. Sleek and powerful.

Nice design. I agree w Jack. Looks like some orbital defense weapon.
Some souped up ion cannon or mega railgun made to kill stations or dreads in a single shot.

The "wings" remind me of solar collectors or the panels on an Ion Array Frigate (Homeworld), or possibly massive sensor arrays. To me it looks like some kind of command ship, or a super long range assault ship with one spinal mount weapon and very little else.
Either way it looks nice. [ This Message was edited by: Talien on 2010-06-10 10:17 ]

I like this ship. It is very fresh and original looking.
I propose it be a pirate carrier platform, launching a great many fighters out of its sides. Perhaps it is also very fast for its chassis size (on the order of the next chassis size down). This could easily be a pirate carrier dread in my eyes, not a cruiser.

Render looks a little weird, but i think it might be my monitor..
Anywhose! It reminds me of a Turanic Ion Cannon Frigate, just way more souped up
I say make it the pirate beam boat

Pirates are generally limited to destroyers and below, with the occasional cruiser, since by lore they are basically either building ships out of secondhand parts or converting stolen civilian liners. While the model looks interesting and may have some kind of role (along the lines of what others have suggested), I don't think it fits the mold of a pirate ship as we have defined them.

As much as I like this, it does not look realistic. A ship so long, yet so thin just makes no sense, it would be very vulnerable. Any beam/missile hitting the middle section of the ship, would seriously damage systems communicating between the front and the back of the ship.

Replace those "wings" with two long yet large hanger bays (similar to the M-277 but way longer) then we may have a pic of an ICC ship a about 150yrs(give or take 50yrs in lore/DS time) in the future. if you reduce the scale, you can get a idea of length similar to ICC dessie right now and it becomes more realizitic in terms of communcation and such. I can think of this as a light cruiser, a dessie or a heavy Frigate just because of the thin shape, plus it also points to a fast ship. with some modification you can build it into any class of ship. Note: dreads trend to be a bit more bulky due to personal, com, and other requirements.
P.S. This leans more towards pirate/mercs then ICC but because of the sharp lines it can go towards ICC and as stated above THIS IS A SHIP OF THE FUTURE NOT NOW.
I give you two thumps up for the design, good work

Nice gun. Where's the rest of the ship?
