DarkSpace Version 1.508 Released...
- Posted on January 6th, 2009 - 00:41 by Mr Black
We have another important series of updates for DarkSpace to notify you about.

The updates and changes are as follows:

- Serialization optimization which reduces the size of WOB's and transmitted data. This caused a update of most of the WOB files to a new format. Data sent over the network will be dramatically smaller.

- Multi-System Enhancements are now implemented.

- Enhancements are now color coded according to how rare they are.

- Adjusted "common" enhancements to be more balanced. In addition some may have small side effects also.

- Added a manifest to the lobby for Vista.

- Minor adjustments made to Mi ship's, devices, and visual effects.

- Platforms are now more robust.

- Fixed issue with prevalent ECCM/ECM pinging on high tier ships - cool-down now scales up with ship class.

- Improved AI spawns.

You can find information on previous updates in the DarkSpace Development Log.

Rogen's Rift designated for lower ranks.
- Posted on January 3rd, 2009 - 23:50 by Tael
Rogen's Rift has been set as an area for lower ranked players to explore the game and play without having to deal with dreads or stations.

The server has been set to a max rank of 2nd Rear Admiral. Anyone may join and play in the server, but no ships above the limit will be spawnable in the server and players with a rank higher than 2RA will not gain prestige. Enjoy.
Station Layout Changes
- Posted on January 3rd, 2009 - 15:00 by Mr Black
Due to some necessary changes to Station layouts, players will want to remove any existing Stations from their garages, and re-spawn new ones, otherwise you will be missing some gadgets.

ICC Stations have gained one extra Auxiliary shield facing per arc.

UGTO and K'Luth Stations have each gained extra Core Weapons, Beams or Missiles, as befits their particular role.
DarkSpace Version 1.507 Released
- Posted on January 2nd, 2009 - 13:59 by Mr Black, The Irresponsible Cynic
Hard at work, we have released yet another update for DarkSpace.

The changelog is as follows:

- Changed server shutdown to make sure final prestige & rank are persisted to the database.

- Added more redundancy and logging to player storage system.

- Changed UDP receive thread to high priority to prevent the loss of UDP packets under high CPU load.

- Enhancements are awarded directly to the players rather than dropped into space. Each player that causes a significant amount of recent damage to a destroyed ship gets a chance to receive the enhancement.

- Collision optimizations.

- Added new "Procyon" cluster for the MI threat.

- Added Supply Frigates to each human faction so midshipmen have some diversity in what they can do.

- Various balance tweaks.

Enjoy.

- The Development Team.
Server Full/Invalid server version...
- Posted on January 1st, 2009 - 14:12 by Mr Black, The Irresponsible Cynic
If you are having trouble connecting to, or playing in the Sagittarius server, you are welcome to help the new players learn in Newbie, or attempting to invade or defend one of the Home clusters. You never know what may happen if another faction manages to capture an enemy home-system.
