Development update
- Posted on [12:21 PM] July 03 2001 by Faustus
The new server code and lobby application for DarkSpace is getting near to completion. Currently, I'm doing a complete rewrite of the server backend which should allow much more flexibility than the previous servers. The new server backend uses the database far better, allowing for several servers running on different machines to work together.

The new lobby will include several new features, including clan management, friend and ignore lists, and even the ability to change your username, password, or email through the lobby application.

Palestar seeking publisher
- Posted on [09:42 AM] July 02 2001 by Faustus
It's official, Palestar and UbiSoft have now signed an agreement allowing Palestar to continue development and seek a new publisher for DarkSpace. 'DarkSpace' is now the official title, 'Battle Isle' has been dropped from the name. This happens just in time for the planned Open Beta scheduled to begin near the beginning of July. The planned Open Beta will use GameCQ, Palestar's own server backend and lobby software which will be available for download soon.

Palestar is currently looking for an appropriate partner to publish our massive multi-player online title DarkSpace(TM). All business inquiries should be directed to publish@palestar.com. Someone will follow up with you via Email or by phone. Publishers only please! Also be sure to include detailed contact information.
GameSpot / Office Move
- Posted on [02:15 PM] June 21 2001 by Faustus
Gamespot posted our new screen shots on their site, if you would like to check it out click here. Thanks to Trey Walker for posting the article. Additionally, we are currently moving our offices, so the pluto DarkSpace server will be unavailable.
GameCQ / Web Pages
- Posted on [07:53 PM] June 20 2001 by Faustus
The design and implementation of the new SQL database is complete for GameCQ which will perform as the new server backend of DarkSpace and future Palestar products. We are now working on the actual server code to communication with the SQL database.

You may have noticed some minor changes in the web pages, we have increased the font size and make all the pages consistant with each other.

The site should work better for Netscape browsers, fixed some problems with the navigation menu.
Web Server
- Posted on [04:34 PM] June 19 2001 by Faustus
Lots of stuff has happened over the last few days. Firstly, a mistake at our ISP ended up with our internet connection going down at the office, which in turn brought down our web server. However, this forced us to move more quickly in setting up a new server at prismnet.com, our web pages are now hosted on a 800Mhz Celron /256MB with 2 T3 lines for bandwidth, a big improvement!

After all these problems and moving the web pages to the new server, we had all kinds of additional problems with the configuration of the new server. However, I think all the issues have no been resolved. Please email me if you happen to notice any more problems.

We are currently in the process of preparing for the open beta sheduled to begin at the end of this month. Since DarkSpace will be pulled from the BBGC, we are now in the process of rebuilding the infrastructure. Bascially, this means this web site will continue to undergo changes as we build the systems to support a open beta of DarkSpace.
