| | | | | | | | | | | | | | I'm sure some of you read the previous news entry about the planned MetaVerse Test.
We started to organize this event early morning, but there was not enough time to solve all problems.
So we decided to move this test to next weekend. We still need some stabile servers (best T3 and T1 lines) so we get no problems with lag.
If you are able to offer a server check this Thread, and take part in the organisation.

| | | | | | | I would highly suggest all moderator read the moderator rules carefully, or run the risk of no longer being a moderator. We've had problems with players being kicked or banned for something very minor or just being new to this game. Players should only be 'banned' for major infractions such as Racism, Piracy, Pornography, or after being kicked and continuing to cause problems. Players should be 'kicked' for use of profanity, harassment, and using exploits or bugs within DarkSpace.
Any player who is banned or kicked for questionable reasons can contact sunshine@palestar.com or rlyle@palestar.com. All moderators will be expected to support and explain why they banned another player if a complaint is made against them. |

| | | | | | | A 500gu area around all home jump gates is now treated as a safe zone, so do not fire on enemy ships within this distance to their jump gate. If you do so, all damage will be counted as friendly fire and reduce your prestige. This has been implemented in response to problems with players attacking new ships as they enter the game.
Note: The safe zone does NOT apply to jumpgates which link one star system to another in the metaverse.

| | | | | | | All systems are now active in the Metaverse. Note, you can only enter with a new ship from Sol, Sirus, or Epsilon Eri.
We would like to run a test with all systems, if you would like to join in this test do the following:
1. Enabled the Linked checkbox and set your linkID to 'barney', do not hit the encode button.
2. Pick a system that isn't already up and running, and configure your server to run on that system.
3. Name your server 'MV1: ' + name of your system. (i.e. for the Sol system, it should be 'MV1: Sol'
4. Set your maximum clients to 64.
5. Enable Ladder.
6. Disable Clan and Balanced.

| | | | | | | We are now beginning testing of the MetaVerse. JumpGates can now link to other servers, provided those servers all share the same LinkID. The FAQ has been updated to include details on setting up and running a MetaVerse server. Currently there are only 3 star systems in the MetaVerse. Sol is the UGTO home world, only UGTO can start in this system. Sirius is linked to Sol and Epsilon Eri, ICC can only start in this system. Epsilion Eri is linked to Sirus, K'Luth can begin in this system.
Soon we will add 9 more star systems to the 'MetaVerse' and a star map to the web page. Additionally, we have started work on a map editor which should be available within the next few weeks.
Below is a map of the OFFICIAL Metaverse, not all system may be available until the update later today:

| | | | | | | Some players are experiencing problems playing DarkSpace after the recent update. This is due to certain dll's not being updated to match the current version of universe.dll. Normally a reboot will fix this, however if you reboot and the problem still persists you can do the update manually. Simply goto the directory you have installed DarkSpace, and look for files ending with '.UPD'. Those files are the newer versions, and need to replace the previous version of that file.
For Example:
Factory.dll.upd is in your directory, delete or backup Factory.dll, then remove the '.upd' from Factory.dll.upd, renaming it to Factory.dll. Note: There may be more than one UPD file in the directory, do this for all files in your DarkSpace directory.
You cannot rename or delete dll's that are currently in use, so don't try this while running the lobby. |
