Cruisers are standard fare throughout the Darkspace universe. They are the perfect blend of armor, weapons, and speed that allow them to excel virtually every role they are assigned. However, in terms of sheer durability or weapon armaments, they are still outclassed by dreadnoughts or stations
UGTO
ST-34 Torpedo Cruiser
Role: Assault
- Weapons: 4 Chemical Lasers, 3 Heavy Chemical lasers, 10 proton torpedo launchers, and a flux wave device.
- Rank Requirement: Vice Admiral
- Badge's required: Bronze Navigator, Bronze Engineer, Silver Combat, Bronze transport, Bronze Bomber, Bronze Support
A cruiser available only to senior UGTO cruiser captains, the torpedo cruiser is a close ranged, heavy hitter. It is an EAD in a Smaller, more convienent package. The torpedo is often seen smashing it's way though enemy armor using it's ten proton topedoes to deadly effect. Having a torpedo cruiser on your six is no laughing matter. The favourite prey of these ships are the command and missile dreadnoughts of the ICC.
ST-35 Interdictor
Role: Interdictor
- Weapons: 7 chemical lasers
- Rank Requirement: 2nd Rear Admiral
- Badge's required: None
For an attacking fleet, a Interdictor cruiser is a must. Used to great effect for trapping enemy ships so they cannot jump out, they are the first targets the enemy aims for when their presence becomes known. The Interdictor Cruiser is only equiped with a light laser array, so it is best to stay close to friendly ships that can defend you.
ST-36 Battle Cruiser
Role: Gunboat
- Weapons: 4 chemical lasers, 4 heavy particle cannons, 4 Proton Torpedo launchers, and a flux wave device.
- Rank Requirement: 1st Rear Admiral
- Badge's required: None
The Bread and Butter ship of the Trade Navy, the UGTO Battle cruiser is the most numerous ship in the trade navy. Like it's Destoryer counter-part, it is a well balenced ship and is suited for the mid-close range area of fighting.
ST-39 Missile Cruiser
Role: Missile boat
- Weapons: 4 chemical beam lasers and 8 ion tracker missile launchers.
- Rank Requirement: 2nd Rear Admiral
- Badge's required: Silver Combat
Seeing one of these on the front lines is a rarity. Missile ships are quickly losing favour in the Trade Navy. With the Missile dreadnought already discontinued, these are sure to be next. The Missile Cruiser is suited for long-range combat and carries no close range weapons. This makes the Missile Cruiser open to attack from smaller, close range ships.
ST-40 Strategic Bomber Cruiser
Role: Bomber
- Weapons: 7 chemical lasers and 4 MiRV bomb launchers.
- Rank Requirement: 1st Rear Admiral
- Badge's required: Silver Bomber
The primary instrument of the Trade Navy's bomber squadrons, they are used to compelety demolish ICC and K'luth planetary assets. A Formation of these with their smaller cousins, the Bomber Frigate, is a force to be reckoned with.
ICC
M-230A Heavy Cruiser
Role: Gunboat
- Weapons: 4 chemical beam lasers, 3 railguns, 4 heavy railguns, and 5 fusion torpedo launchers.
- Rank Requirement: 1st Rear Admiral
- Badge's required: None
The most commonly seen cruiser in use by the ICC Navy, the Heavy cruiser is not to be underestimated. Its railgun array allows the Heavy Cruiser to pour cannon fire on ships very effectively from both a distance and close range. The 5 fusion torpedo lauchers are also very effective when engaging foes at close range.
M-231P Border Cruiser
Role: Electronic Warfare
- Weapons: 4 chemical lasers, 3 gauss guns, and 4 heavy gauss guns
- Rank Requirement: 1st Rear Admiral
- Badge's required: Silver Navigator
- Shielding/Armor: 8 reactive shields.
Recommended setup(Note: If you have anything to add to this, please add it below this, don't edit it;thanks): Change all guns to railguns for energy(1.671)
Keep ECCM, ECM will only lower your sig to 1.5 in the middle of space.
Change the two full-arc beams to pulse for PD.
Reading from the left, change every second shield to actives. This will change the outer shields to active shields. Always remember to redirect those shields!
The border cruiser completely forgoes armour, instead its fitted with 8 shield generators. Its cannons are arranged in a similar manner to the Heavy cruiser, but it loses the torpedoes in exchange for 2 extra sensors. The lack of armour means its very agile for something its size, it can turn almost as well as some frigates. The agility also means it can dodge a lot of fire, giving it a surprising endurance in battles.
M-235A Assault Cruiser
Role: Assault
- Weapons: 4 chemical lasers, 3 heavy chemical lasers, and 10 fusion torpedo launchers.
- Rank Requirement: Vice Admiral
- Badge's required: Bronze Navigator, Bronze Engineer, Silver Combat, Bronze Transport, Bronze Bomber, and Bronze Support
The ICC assault cruiser packs a powerful punch for its size. It's at home destroying the rears of enemy dreadnoughts, or obliterating smaller ships. Unlike the torpedo cruiser, you can shut the shields off for more energy.
M-235I Interdictor Cruiser
Role: Interdictor
- Weapons: 3 chemical beam lasers and 4 pulse beams.
- Rank Requirement: 2nd Rear Admiral
- Badge's required: None
The Interdictor can either traps enemy ships, or prevent UGTO assault ships from jumping to the missile boats. Greatly valued when your the faction using it, passionately hated by its enemies. They will try to eliminate it.
M-239A Strike Cruiser
Role: Long range assault
- Weapons: 4 chemical beam lasers, 3 gauss guns, 4 heavy gauss guns, and 3 ion cannons.
- Rank Requirement: 1st Rear Admiral
- Badge's required: None
The only playable cruiser which can carry 3 cores, the strike cruiser is typically used as a long range sniper. It loses an armour plate in the rear, in exchange for an extra one in the nose. While its nose is devastating the other arcs are very weak, because most of its guns point forwards.
M-240M Missile Cruiser
Role: Missile boat
- Weapons: 4 chemical lasers, 8 ion tracker missile launchers.
- Rank Requirement: 2nd Rear Admiral
- Badge's required: Silver Support
The M-240M is the ICC missile cruiser. Its 8 missiles can pack a powerful sting if they get through and its less vulnerable to missiles than the UGTO missile Cruiser, if you fit pulse lasers. It should never get in a close range fight.
M-228C Escort Cruiser
Role: Escort Carrier
- Weapons: 4 fighter slots, 4 chemical lasers, and 7 railguns.
- Rank Requirement: 2nd Rear Admiral
- Badge's required: Silver Support
The "Guppy" as its sometimes known, is a combat carrier. It has no armour on the rear but it has a cannon array. Typically you should engage the same target you launched the fighters at.
M-270C Carrier Cruiser
Role: Carrier
- Weapons: 4 fighter slots and 7 chemical beam lasers
- Rank Requirement: 2nd Rear Admiral
- Badge's required: Silver Support
