After yesterdays patch, we still were getting desyncs so I went back and did some very deep investigation into what was going on...

I changed the code of the server to add 2,500 ms of lag so I could reproduce the bug, which occured right off the bat. The first thing I fixed has to do with the syncronization packets sent by the server every 30 seconds to syncronize all ship positions in the game, turns out this was causing your ship position to get out of wack. Once I fixed this, the ship position was still getting out of sync... so I added some more trace information to the server/client code and found a MAJOR problem with the design of the ship control system.

Basically, in high lag situations, it becomes impossible for the server to keep the correct position of the ship based entirely on the information the client is currently sending to the server. Which is just yaw and acceleration information.

Anyway, the problem has been identified atleast, and I'm now I can FINALLY fix the desync prolems once and for all.

Patient: Doctor, you gotta help me. Every time I put my hand over my head it hurts.
Doctor: Then stop moving your hand over your head.

Stop modding dreads, for now.

Ozzyla, this is not the thread to be asking for compensation for a lost ship.

That belongs in the bugs or moderator feedback forums.

And why are you demanding that Faustus fix lag in a thread where Faustus is going over what he has to do to fix lag? It's like me offering you a beer, and right after that you demand I give you a beer.

Keep following the logic sheepy .. if it hurts .. don't do it.

Don't play in MV until the new patch is released. If you do, take it upon your own head. Peeps like the guy before need to chill some, it's being worked on. Which isn't to say I never get hugely angry when I see my ship lag-crash into a planet, or lag jerk to die in a battle I just escaped from etc.

Ozzyla, I added another 1 million credits to your account.

The lag will be fixed in the next patch, internal tests have confirmed the bug, and I've already got it working without the client/server getting out of sync in high lag connections (2,500ms).
