Would this effect be in the plane of our ships like the reload drone effect and actually make it possible to accurately judge the edges of the dictor field?

But in all seriousness, my vote is on 1. I like the clearly defined outer boundary.

not without some backend code changes. it's likely a very simple fix, but still requires the attention of our chief coder, and its a very low priority item.
no, this is just to reduce some visual clutter

The lack of symmetry bothers me, though.

The fourth looks like the best to me. I've always had an issue with how it looks when there is multiple dictors in a cluster, and all you see is just 6 red rings.

To me 2 is the best looking, but 4 seems like it'd be just a little less graphically intensive.

So I'll have to say 4 even though it's ugly.

#3 IMO looks sorta like the support station's DC field effect, but for my choice, id say #2

On this subject, is the object going to be rendered in real-time or will it just be a spinning image?

Fixed.

Also, while I was at it, made it so interdictor range's now take into account the radius of the planet, and are centered to it. And also scaled the interdictor sprite accordingly.
