same, the teardrop shaped one looks better.
paired with a small delay between the laser activating and firing could make it even better, something like this -

Due to how we render beams, any shape that isn't a line isn't possible. So any teardrop fantasies you may have are sadly out the window.

Apparently not. Don't the particle cannon fire already look like bolts?
Besides, there's no such thing as a laser 'bolt'.

Used to build laser welding machines for the auto industry. When a laser hits a metal panel, it flares at the end for as long as it takes to pierce the panel. Slag jumps out like lava for a few seconds. The beam itself was fed fiber optically, so was a literal straight line beam until it hit an obstacle. Once through it continues on in a straight line. The light at the contact point doesn't teardrop though, it reflects in every direction...more like it radiates. Seen this on slow motion cameras before, very cool.
And your puny little laser pointers are not to be compared to a laser that is made to punch through steel. You can hold that in your hand. These machines take up roughly a 40'x30'x20' footprint on the factory floor and are chemically based. At least 10 years ago when I left that particular industry that was how it worked.
Just something for the conversation.....

A 60W CO2 laser tube would fit in your hands. Would need some Caps to power it and water cooler. Burns through anything and the beam is invisible. Those Fiber Optics cutters are awesome.
