English dubbing is certainly a poor substitute for old fashioned subtitles in some cases. One such example IMO is a French movie called Brotherhood of the Wolf...good movie. Whenever I've seen it I keep the audio as-is, and use subtitles while my dad will use english audio which just doesnt sound right.
