evidently this isn't gonna officially happen, so I'll think of a way to un-officially implement it.
have exams in 20 minutes, so I'll come back and post.

Has anyone even tried the tutorial lately?
IMO what little there is is quite good but it only covers about 10% of the game so i think that adding the other 90% would help the new players massively

This would have helped me alot back when i started, just basics on nav building, combat and bombing and maybe some stuff on the diffrences of each faction.
Also there used to be d.s.a darkspace academy to help new players i think it was just run by players but im not 100% on that im sure someone who has been here longer than me will know for sure but the basic idea was that each faction had a newbie fleet with a vet at the helm who was willing to take the time to help new players, but i dont think we need more fleets or new icons to show there are people here to help anyone who wants to help will show thier willing in the chat to new players as and when they login. I mean who would be the special helpers? Just say i was the helper for ugto i can only play a gfw hours at night now what about all those new guys who need help when im offline? we need more helpers? then half the player base will be helpers and what if we dont all agree on whats best etc it will just leave us with whats we have now but a shinny new icon the dev team wont give us anyway.

Did no one like my Idea or did no one finish reading it? I wonder...

Not sure if such a system is needed. I personally don't mind helping out newer folks and showing them the basics, and I know quite a few players that do it as well. I think that if there was a reward for it, people would take advantage of it. Just my ten cents.

The problem I have with the option of helpers is that those who fulfill that task should not be playing.
Why I say this?
Generally support is greatly needed in combat. But, if in the middle of a fight, I started writing to help a newbie, the most likely end up dead if I write because I can not fight.
Generates responses that are fast, short and little explanatory.
Nobody wants to die, while explaining to a novice, how to played.
I remember other games, with tutorial, where there are mission for learn to play and later go to main game.
Of course is my humble opinion.
