It's probably not critical or necessary though some players might prefer a cleaner view of the battlespace without the lines and shading to indicate ranges. Just like the options in F2 Tactical, where you can toggle on the territorial shading, planet icons and stuff.

But I think, yeah. It doesn't need to be toggleable if it's too much work. I think it's a good addition to the game as it is.



That said Frob, perhaps now would be a good time for you guys to consider changing the OOC indicator to something else (like my suggested thick red borders around the game screen when in combat)

Too many things involve rings around the ship already. Armor, shields, OOC, and now your range rings. Might lead to sensory clutter, if you know what I mean.
