All I can imagine are double barreled heavy beam weapons on those wings. Kenny I love you.

I've compiled a few shots for you.
The M230 is wider, but overall the hull is flatter and shorter in a sense, so there is prob less mass there. The M240 does look more modern and sleeker, but I somehow feel that it has a more utilitarian feel about it. |

Hm.....the droopy nose looks kinda off, like with the Frigate model you did. Could you do a version without the droop so we could compare?
UGTO Dreadnought looks epic.

It was actually meant to droop slightly for that "lean forward" look. I'll see if I can reduce the droop later.

To cater for the upcoming tier system, there may be 4 variants of the M230 class cruiser.
First off, the classic M230. Termed the M230 Standard.
Basically it's the same old M230, but with optimized textures. Changes are of course, the windows, of which I'm ALWAYS particular about getting the scale correct as they do the job of giving the player a feel of the size of the ship. The other changes include the main outriggers, where I moved back the protruding pod a little to make room for detailing on the forward section of the outrigger. Other detailing works can be seen on the main arch.
This model forms the basis for the rest of the variants.
Next, the M230 Type 2.
Here we have the M230 Type 2. It's basically similar to the Standard M230 except that the lower half of the tailfin has been split apart at a 35 degrees angle to clear the blast from the central exhaust port.
Some antennas have also been added to the lower tailfin. This detailing makes it suitable to use this model for a more EW oriented cruiser, if there are any of course.
Next up, the M230 Type 3 cruiser.
The central engine now has two combustion chambers for better efficiency. The 3 engines are supposed to be similar, but the main port and starboard engines are larger than the central one. The central engine now has a twin exhaust port for better efficiency/thrust.
Lastly, the Tier 3 Cruiser model
This T3 bad boy has the quad nozzle of the Type 3 cruiser, but gets rid of the forward-lower arch/fin thingie for an additional superstructure. The top side of the forward hull also gets an additional structure, presumably for the heavy weapons that this Tier 3 cruiser packs. It looks more butch than the regular M230 because of the bigger front end.

Will ICC be the only faction that uses variations of the same hull?

Pretty sure all factions are getting a boatload of new models. Some of the ICC ship will have a "revision" look to them if I remember correctly from the models. UGTO tends to just make another hull type (money + red tape + capitalism, ho!). I think.

As what Frob said. UGTO has more money to burn and will likely go for entirely new hulls for different roles, while ICC are the frugal faction with limited resources. They will tend to find a hull that is useful and modular and then make variants of it to maximize utility and cost efficiency.
This is not to say that UGTO will not have variants. Being the corporate entity that they are, they will consider cost too when deploying ship types even though they may not be as cash/resource strapped as the Confeds.
Kluth ships will be the most disparate in design, since they basically grow them.
