How many of you have gone into F2 to set a course or watch what's happening elsewhere and not realize you're being shot to pieces?

The red flashing border is not always reliable. One of the dreads I was escorting never even knew they were being shot at by a player and ended up getting killed.

I went briefly into F2 to set a course and when I jumped and looked back, I had 50% hull and half my shields and armor were gone, and no idea what did it.

What would be even better is having F2 be a transparent overlay that does not move your camera, but lets you set a course while still being able to see the action immediately around you, but this would mean the game would have to render twice as much.

No replies?
Just hull, armor, and shield status bars shown while in the navigation view.

That's all!

No. There's no need for this.

Yeah.. and maybe a warning sound like "we are under attack!!" instead of bleeps whenever scanners detect an enemy

You took my idea!

This is a great idea, and I don't think it would take too much time to implement. Especially in a system with luth, you can't see them and you're in the F2 view and get killed by some siphon that you didn't know was attacking you.
