There's a ship capture avoidance exploit. If someone drops troops on you, you just dock at a shipyard.
If someone does do this, it should storm the planet with those troops, originating from the shipyard structure that they docked at.

Some target info on the status of your boarded troops would be nice too, you really have no idea if they failed or if it's just taking a few minutes.

An ICC dread jumped to the nearest SY planet and docked before they had a chance to capture.
I imagine any other ship will be able to do just the same unless they are far from home.

Would dissallowing docking until all cargo is non-hostile be acceptable?

I have to say that this has been around for a while and almost no one has had a problem that I remember of. Also, there is something called the ticket system. Instead of posting these exploits onto the forums (and thus helping to spread the exploit as people read your post) you should use the ticket system (little thing that says "Submit Ticket" over to the left) to report exploits and/or talk directly to the people in power about it.

It is irritating. But while enemy troops are onboard a ship fighting against the defenders, what's stopping the bridge crew from initiating docking procedures?

Nothing. So a ship should still be able to dock when boarded.

just depends on the situation really. sometimes you make it home, sometimes you dont.

thats like saying we should change the depos because they fix the ships that are near it.

its just a game guys besides, if it "were" easy to cap a ship fast we would all be doing it and the game would be pointless.

I don't really see the problem. Unless you are loading up Jack Sparrow Infantry, good luck getting a ship out of shipyard lockdown with just a handful of boarding parties.

i dont see the problem with people docking to excape capture.

I drop on enemy ships to disengage them from the battle. Rather that disengagement comes from them being captured, self destructing, or runing off to a sy, my goal is complete.

Capturing is hard enough without people being able to avoid it by docking. First you have to get close, then you have to drop it at the right point to avoid PD ánd to avoid the ship just flying faster then the pods. Then you have to wait and hope they stay alive while fighting the enemy soldiers on board, and then maybe, MAYBE you have a chance to capture them.

I like capturing a lot, but as ICC, which is safest at a distance, you have only one chance of dropping them correctly, then you have to get out of the way. I especially hate stations who hang around planets anyway, dock and reappear shortly after.

Having something negative happen when you dock would be ok to me. Having them invade the planet wouldn't be something bad, giving them a chance to capture a ship from your docking station (if they survive the planet's infantry for 2 minutes) would be favourite.

Yours sincerely,
Demigan.

From Battlecruiser (3k, millenium etc)
Your marines on search duty will find Invaders and kill/capture
them, but will likely take casualties. Or you can dock with a
star station. Star station security will sweep your ship and put
any intruders into your detention hold as prisoners.

that was my explanation for this till now

i didnt read all the comments/replies but tell me if already mentioned. My idea is instead of trying to capture the planet, the troops damage the shipyard, depending on how many troops were on the ship. E.X. 1 infantry=10%, 2 infantry=20%, 3 infantry=30% and so on.
