With the tweaks to fighter ai and the change to interceptor weaponry the interceptor no longer bumrushes into pd range.

So now I bring up the old question: Which is better, the A-34 which deals more but dodgeable damage at range or the faster I-19 which deals guaranteed damage?

Well, presumably the I-19 is better used against smaller ships like scouts, frigates, and so forth, while the A-34 is best used against larger ships like cruisers and such. Obviously this applies to ICC versions as well.

Personally I suspect fighter damage is a bit on the low side in either case, but I've not really tested it very thoroughly.

I have mixxed feelings on fighter damage.

They take a while to ramp up, but with multiple people focusing fighters on one target it adds up.

There is one kluth elite that launches a boat load of fighters to great effect.

Yeah, that Kluth elite is ridiculous.

Anyways, I say the I-19 is better. They launch 2x as fast and you can't dodge their weapons. That's a pretty solid advantage there. Fighters are, for the most part, useless against capital ships. The main target of fighters should normally be small attack and support ships. Those small ships can pretty easily dodge non beam weapons. I think this is a pretty clear and cut case of which is better.

Interceptor damage is utterly laughable, even a Scout can handle a full carrier load of them without much trouble. To put it in perspective: 6 Interceptors were unable to damage even an Extractor, it had regenerated back to full by the time they turned around for another pass.

Which is why I suspect that fighter damage is a bit low.
