I have started testing the dev preview of Windows 8, it is VERY different from your standard Windows OS, and reminds me more of Windows Phone 7. I like the feel of it though it could use a few changes.
If you are also trying out Windows 8, post your thoughts here... I will try to post a few screenshots later on

Honestly, I really love the visual changes they've made with Windows. Then again, I have a little bias being a user of Windows Phone 7. While the new changes are meant to be for Tablets, I think they work for PCs as well. The layout is simple, easy to use, and easy to access.
As for the under the hood improvements, I know little about them. Haven't had a chance to dig in and check them out.

windows 8 looks awesome, although your second image looks somehow familiar to me. but windows 7 is good enough for me. i use it all the time at school(matters on what computer i go onto, all of them dont have 7).

especially the second picture.... just more colors

I primarily use win 8 as my speed boot OS if i need to do somthing in a hurry. It boots a lot faster than my Win 7 does. Missing the old taskbar, but I think I'll get used to the new start screen once the windows app store when its launched.
Remember this is not even considered a beta and the release date for Win 8 hasn't even been released. so probaly more changes to come

Don't worry, actual computer users. It is possible to turn off almost all of that gimmicky rubbish and the SystemInternals process explorer still works instead of that abortion of a task manager.

Win 8 is already being called the WinMe of the 21st century.
I have the dev preview as well and hate it. No more folders to arrange your programs in groups. Meaning you will be flipping through tiles for ever... We installed Office 2010 Enterprise Plus on it which confirmed it makes 20 little icon tiles for everything.
I will be skipping Win8. Maybe the will wake up when Win9 comes around.

I'm sure it is a slight oversight which will be addressed before the release, this is a very early version. Hell the release date hasn't been officially announced yet anyways
I'd also like to note that if you rightclick a tile, you can unpin it to keep only your fav apps tiled, and if you need to use something else, just search it by hitting windows and typing it in
