If and when doing a speed test say using speedtest.net dont use ur local server for the test use a server in texas where i assume the darkspace server is it will give a better idea to the connection speed and ping you have to the game server.
This might be a stupid suggestion but its the best i got.

My computer is ancient too but I don't have these problems. I have 1gb RAM and a raedon 9600xt video card. If AMD ever gets off their butts and decides to release the Bulldozers maybe I'll upgrade (I'm hearing there's some pretty big issues that are keeping it held back).
Traceroutes are another story. Every time I've run one for DS I've had drops. It's only from the NJ/NY area to TX but there's always drops.

I still get lag spikes occasionally. I know it's not attributed to multi-core as it's definitely turned off.
Pings go from 200ms to 3000+ and sometimes 60000. I know it's happening when my chat gets delayed, so I Alt-P in and there it is.... huge latency. Sometimes I'm the only one getting it, and sometimes everyone playing gets it.
As for cause, I dunno. Jack says it ain't the server. It may be the connection anywhere from TX to where I am. It could also be the game itself.

Highest i have seen is about 700.
I do not experience network lag at all even when i try to tunnel trough a low bandwidth connection.
Most what i see is graphical annoyances, either fps dropping to 6.0 or below, or worse maxing out my cpu and just having a hanging client.

Hell... my phone is faster than the OP's computer... Stop using outdated technology and you won't have graphics lag. My 3 year old laptop runs this fine with no lag, everything on high... if you aren't replacing your components/computer every 2-3 years, you should not be gaming on your PC. That is all.

Heh, if computers only cost a few hundred dollars then replacing it every couple of years would be no problem. Unfortunatlly they cost a lot more so replacing it every couple of years isn't an option.
Not everyone is born with a Silver Spoon in their mouths living the good life. Some of us have to work hard and are barely surviving trying to make ends meet.
There was a lot of lag in this game a few years ago. It seemed to have been fixed for a while, especially after I upgraded my Vid card and RAM.
Now I haven't logged into this new patch yet but if my 10 year old desktop computer can't play this game anymore, I'll just remove the game from my computer.

I dunno if anyone else gets this, but I get a pause virtually everytime a new object comes into scan range. Sometimes its a few seconds, sometimes its bad enough that I get a white screen for a few until it rights itself.
While I dont have the best pc in the world, it isnt all that bad (only a two year old pc). I know I could use a vc upgrade, but this seems more like an issue with the server updating the client correctly.
