Well i think its not bad...it would make players have a sence of responsibility to thier planets, if the fleet commander isnt present another member can take his place, if he's the only fleet member on he could call ai's to help

This. Its a good way to use fleets, and if the devs wanted to help we could make a point system out of this when the new stuff comes out of for fleets. Also like my former officer said, it would inhace the responsibility of players.
I would like the devs to look into this idea please.

Reading through this carefully, you seem to be suggesting that planets basically belong to the fleet that captured them.

upon thinking on this more;
I think it would put undo stress on fleet members.
I left FS because me and my friend were tasked with defending our one system in sag to the detriment of all else. Making people HAVE to do something makes the game boring and predictable.
Ive already had several walk offs in FTL due to the taxation of missions i set up. "volenteer missions at that".
Telling my fleet "these three planets are yours defend them at all cost" would surely see the death of FTL.
Purpose is easily overcome by insanity if your not cairful.

So lets say RSM is losing a planet, every other UGTO fleet is just going to sit back and not worry about it?
As Gejaheline pointed out, planets are already tagged. What exactly do you hope to change?

All these ideas aren't gonna be worth anything unless planets actually mean something in the first place other than platforms for SYs and Depots.
All planets are similar, as long as you build them similarly.
Make hypermatter, urdanium, etc etc a requirement to build big ships again, and maybe planets will matter. Don't forget to buff planetary defences too.
