is there a way to switch ASDF keys functions to those of the direction keys?

i find the direction key much more responsive.. but its nah impossible to use them, and target, and look, and rotate shields, and fire off select weapons..

+1 to this

if this was possible, ICC players wouldn't need 3 hands anymore.
might be a little tricly to get used to, but it would be worth it.

You already got a QWASD configuration for controlling the ship...
Q=Down, W=Up
A=Yaw left, S=Stop Yaw turn, D=Yaw right

These controls can be remapped from the Options menu ingame.
It takes a while to get used to yaw-turning, but once done its a great way to evade attacks and taunt your enemy with /target spam at the same time.

Also, autopilot can sometimes be useful too. Use G (shadow) at 500-1000 range and F (follow) in 300-500 range.

so you can remap q/w/a/d to the EXACTLY same function as the arrow keys have?

EDIT:
just tested it: No you can't

try keeping distance to an enemy while constantly turning in one direction - doesn't work

EDIT 2:
evading incoming fire sometimes requires sudden changes of turning direction which is very awkward with yaw control

thats why arrow keys give you a challenge need three hands? use your ding ding dong to do it. well, you can smash spacebar with ease, one hand on arrow keys other on mouse.

arrowkeys really give you the edge at turning and evading. if they were set in wasd or qwasd or what we have in ds...then i think everyone would use them all the time and magic and thrill of twistedhand ding dong spacebar mashing would loose its beauty

just pains me that we have controles that work 100% of the time in the direction keys.... where as asdf seems to hang up ALOT!

its just bad design to keep your best controles inacessable.

(are the arrow keys for when i get up outa my captains chair, walk over to the helmsman and slap his face off? Scew that! Launch his incompetent arse out the airlock and move helms controle to my captains chair! asap)

Also, can we make it so spacebar constantly fires weapons as their ready as long as its held down?

(make it so we dont have to hear that annoying beep noise when no weapons are ready to fire as well. wth is that?)

Shield rotation could use the same treatment.

bump. Minor interfacing that could help smoth over gameplay. I feel like it needs more attention.
