oh, you have my current comp's upgrade specs

through I'll be going with the Cooler Master HAF 912 case instead

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233

Edit: one more things i'm going to get is a new monitor aswell....My CRT is getting a little bit too old for the current age (vga going out and no more CRT replacements).

How are you going to keep your CPU cool with that dinky little heat sink? You should have gotten a manly heat sink like this one.

Your system wil definitely be cool with this baby.

Five minutes after mounting this HSF, the weight of the thing will rip the CPU and socket right off the board. It'll run cool then.

So you go and spend nearly $750 on a new machine, only to kill the damned thing by installing Norton AV. Awesome work...

You do realise that there are plenty of free AV suites which a) are [b]FREE]/b] and b) run equally well, if not better than Norton. AVG, Avast or even Comodo, for instance.

me and my family have been using nort for years (with the exeption of my past few) with no problem at all.

Unless you can post specific "nortons does this" facts, then i dont want to hear it.

PS all you with nort problems probably pirated it.

alas.. since there is sooooooo much problem with nort, ill go look into it myself. The last version nort had a problem in was WAY back in 1998!!! The problem then was it was too system heavy for equipment of that time.

I haven't used norton for a few years. The last time i did, it caused major lag while playing online games.

For your conference Defiance:
Top 5 Free Antivirus for 2011
Top Standalone Antivirus Software for 2010
I'm using Pentium 4. My computer ran smoothly with Avast 1 month ago and Microsoft Essential Security now.
If you spend money on Norton - which has been regularly #1 on Pcworld test, you may want to try Norton 360 v5 - fastest all-in-one security suite.

I've been using MSE for to the past 2 years now and it works quite well and doesn't lag the computer either except when a full system scan is going (but which AV doesn't). In truth I've had trouble with both norton and AVG. avg lets sooooo many virus' and trojons in it wasn't even funny and well, norton just lags the system, which is no problem execept when you're running high end games like me -.- .

edit: just found out they discontinued my ram....D'oh >.<

I've been using Norton for a few months now with zero problems. It's what Comcast offers for free, so why not take it? Norton even seems faster than the old McAfee Comcast originally offered for free.

I had six month trials of McAfee and Norton with my laptop and used AVG after that. I installed MSE with my new desktop and so far I am happy with it, much better then the other three. No annoying notifications about things I don't care about, no slowing down my computer or interfering with other programs, it just works when you need it to and stays out of your way the rest of the time.

MSE is currently the best free AV.
NOD 32 is the best paid for AV.
