You could always make the game more player-run, with say, ranks inside the faction which would allow you to have more control on what the faction does overall. We would have something like the commander of the faction who could move resources/money around planets and manage the faction in general?

And so on. Give people a really good reason to capture planets, and they will, give people a good reason to hold on to them, and they will. |

This is a great idea.

It would be a great idea if there was an actual economy in DS.
But there isn't, so once again it becomes a moot
point.
I've advocated limiting the ability to spawn ships... or rather, ship classes... to the number of planets you own, or by players online at the moment. When you have less planets you should not be able to spawn many stations or dreads.
But would anyone listen? Or like this idea?
Heh. Prolly not many. Cos most ppl just wanna pull out their stations.

Its a nice idea in theory, but the problem lends itself to a few things such as planets being capped when no one is online to defend them.
Suddenly the main faction players come back and they have no planets, cant even spawn ships to recapture them. While its realistic that a faction grows weaker when they have lss planets, it also means they have a harder time recovering from it. So it doesn't lend itself well to balance.
