I think it would be an interesting prospect to have a transport layout geared toward the capturning of other ships. For all intents and purposes it would be a transport with no bombs a little more PD and essentialy all of its armor set on a front arc with little or no armor on the other sides.

In all seriousness, addition of a Privateer Transport would implicitly necessitate the following :

An Engineer with 1 beam, 1 armor, 1 engine and 5 build drones.
A supply with all of the above, except it would have 7 repair drones (they cost more).
An Agincourt dread with 4 armor, 2 beams, maybe a cannon and 20 fighter bays.
A scout with 1 armor, 1 beam and 3 AMJDs.
A Battlestation with 1 armor and some OMGWTHBBQ 20 HCLs. Totally BBQ.
An AD with 15 ICs. No armor, no shields. Just pure firepower, and pure roflcopter.
Josef and his tractor scout. Damn, hes like Chuck Norris with a machinegun...

Conclusion : Ships should not be overtly specialised. They should be balanced in the basic needs of a warship, and should only favour a certain role.
Also, Josef is a relative of Chuck Norris.

On this line of thought we should:
- ditch the ICC Missle dread it has too many missiles and not enough torpedos for close range engagements
- take a third of the beams off of the claw and replace them with missles for when the claw finds its self out ranged
- all transports need cannons incase they are fired upon they have the basic ability to defend themselves
- interdictor ships need less interdictor range and more weapons so that instead of just trapping ships it can trap them and kill them because just trapping ships is overly specialized

just because we shouldn't have all ships overly specialized doesn't mean there shouldn't be any ships that fill niche roles. Such a thing would degrade the integrity and some of the best parts of the game.

-also anyone who has a friend could probably get their friend to vaporize the on coming tranny
- anyone who is flying so far alone they cant get a friend to shoot a tranny or run away is being silly.
- just because the tranny gets inf on you doesn't guarantee that you will be capped and if that is still too much than you could say that the armor takes up some of the cargo hold and reduce the number of cargo slots from 10 to 6 or 7

Why you ask? It's easy enough for them as is.

Actually, the standard transport performs the fuction well enough as is. You only need 25 caps for privateer badge anyway, and once you cap a ship, it's under AI control, which makes it kinda useless anyway (enhanced ship or not) .

That's a simple fix don't give the k'luth version a cloak, it will still have the same paper armor though.
