Hello everyone.Have 2 questions, sorry if they are covered somewhere & I missed the answer.
First; when using point defense, does it target & attack any missles & fighters that come in range or just ones targeting me or any target I'm defending? It looks like its attacking anything that comes in range but I'm still pretty new & may be seeing things wrong.
Second;regarding the option to defend a target.Does that basically just set you to follow a target & auto-attack anything that attacks it or is there more to it than that?
Thanks in advance for any responses. The information is greatly appreciated.

Point Defence will target any enemy missile/fighter that comes within range, regardless of its target. I'm not sure how the game chooses which nouns are targeted, but if I had to guess I'd say it fires at the closest one it can.

Defending another ship, discounting AI behaviour, is simply a case of you noticing who is firing on the ship you're defending and attacking them.

AI ships defending ships just tend to follow them around and attack nearby ships.

Hope that helps

hi there, point defence will attack any enemy missiles within range of your beam. As for the target defence option, i believe what you are doing is setting the AI, to defend you or a position. Example, if you have an ai ship selected and then right click on ship or planet in navigation, that AI ship will now be set to defend that ship or planet. If you are getting the order to defend it is comming from someone else. Your ship will not do anything automatically.

Thanks for the responses. That helped. What had confused me was when targeting some friendlies ,I was seeing an option to defend.I was unsure if this was something used in conjunction with point defense or some kind of auto-defense thing I was unaware of.
