So this was proposed to me in a class, and I thought it'd be neat to test it out.

The concept is that a teacher is trying to get a student to solve a problem without giving him/her the answer, but no matter how many rules the teacher creates the student can find a way to follow those rules yet still not arrive at the right answer.

For the purposes of this game, each poster will first act as a student (show that the prior rule and all other rules can be followed without giving the right answer) and then secondly as the teacher (write down a new rule you think might stump the next person).

I'll play a couple rounds to get it started and make things clearer

The Problem: Complete this series: 2, 4, 6, 8
(the correct answer is 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, etc.)

Student: okay! 2, 4, 6, 8, 2, 4, 6, 8, etc.

Teacher: wrong! Add 2 to the series

Student: okay! 2, 4, 6, 8, 2.

Teacher: Wrong! Add 2 to the prior number in the series.

Correct :S
Actually, lets go with this - Take the square of the fifth number in this series and list the previous three numbers and following three numbers in its series.

Incorrect! Take the square of the fifth number in the series and list the previous three numbers in the series.

Student: 2, 4, 6, 82, 2

?
