Well im fairly sure this has been done befor, its a fairly easy leap from ECCM plats to ECM plats. but on the of chance it hasnt.
ECM PLATS
basicly the reverse of ECCM plats, but naturally not as strong.
i think it would be more usefull for plat farms, Bombing runs.
Luth planets etc.
naturally the uses are variable but i think it would be rather good to have as an option, ECM clouds forcing sensor ships back into play (between humans this time ) as long as they arent horribly overused.
which considering luth use alot of plat farms makes the chances slim.
anyway, Thoughts feelings?
Dev's/staff mind clearing up wether they have been used before?

Has been suggested many times and shot down i would personaly like to see this but in the end its all up to the devs.

I'd like to see shield plats and a large increase the # of plats allowed per system.

missing dictor plats on that list. Besides ecm plats, they are the only ones to me that make logistical sense AND can be balanced correctly.
I really would like the idea for ecm plats to be considered. Couldn't they be balanced by having them on a seperate limitation. You would have to divide them out of the regular plat count, I would think, in order to specifically limit their number. They would be very useful for platform repair yards in space to help cover the supply platforms. If they were limited to a low number, such as 5, then grouping them could not become too much of an issue.
I could also see 'Luth using them near a gate to help them defend a system. As it is, cloak can be nullified in an increasing number of ways. There are no situations, in contrast, by which the other factions can have their most needed defenses nullified. It would be nice if at least we had a way to help our side in the signature battle. There are no signature LOWERING beacons. Nothing except pd counters beacons. No matter how low the signature, nothing can prevent pinging. Cloak times can be greatly extended due to the eccm that is carried on ships, and it is true that this can be somewhat countered by luth ecm on ships. However, there are no points for a luth riding scout and using ecm , and even if he did, all he effects is cloak/uncloak time.
That is all that adding ecm plats would do for us. It would basically allow us to find some very limited area to try to turn the battlefield favorable for us.
Is that wrong?
Then why have eccm plats, beacons, planetary sensors, and eccm fighters? Stop using them. They turn the battlefield in your favor. Wouldn't be right, right?
Simply limit the number. Let us have 'em please.

Dico plats may be OP.....
You could use them as blockade devices. Simply place one (or a few) of them in a direct line from a gate to your key planet.... and watch the enemy drop out of FTL on their way to you. Also could be used as an ambush device. Park your fleet near the plat and watch the enemy get trapped as they drop right in front of your guns.
Gonna be lots of QQ'ing if it's implemented... So... no. I don't think so.
ECM plats will be good.
I like the idea of that.
So many plats suggested.
I need one of those portable potty plats too. During one of my long long interstellar travels, I might just need to stopover and take a leak. Come to think of it, maybe we should have R&R/Truckstop/Diner plats too... just in case we get hungry during a long jump......

as far as plats go...ICC plats suck cause they have shields NOT armor and are easy as hell to kill...building plats as ICC really is a waste of time because of it. yeah yeah yeah..I know...But you're ICC..you have shields..
we have armor too...using that bs excuse then ICC plats should have shields AND armor on em.I'll settle for just armor ,keep the crap shield
...you can rep it...cant rep shields.Which as it is gives UGTO/kluth the adantage.

K, we will request some lobster plats and will be needing 10k res from destroyed luth ships. We will also have cheese plats needing 10k res from looted ICC ships.

on a more serious note u can't really snipe ICC plats like you can snipe UGTO or Luth plats. Go max IC range and snipe.

you are kluth, the food-platforms flying all around you (some are shooting you though....)
anyway, ecm-platforms would be great to hide supply-bases somewhere in deep space (unless some idiot jump straight to them, while being followed by an enemy fleet ....)
and it would be a great counter to the turteling tactic with thousands of eccm-platforms that let your sig skyrocket to values >300
