Please post any graphics issues you experieince with the latest 1.542 release in this thread.

Please read the following notes before posting:

Nvidia Users

If you experience issues with models leaving black trails across the screen, you need to make sure that Antialiasing is set to Application Controlled, Enhance Application Settings, or Off. Overriding the application settings via the drivers can result in the trailing issue.

A link demonstarting this can be found below.

If you experience any other issues, please try toggling the HDR setting in the graphics control panel to see if this fixes the problem. Make sure to post in this thread and let us know.

It's very nice. The new effects make cannon fire look amazing.

I experience some pause when spawning from a gate. Is this the sort of issue you are looking for? Otherwise, it seems just fine, although the blurry text on aligning jump drives and being in jump doesn't look too grand.

I'm quite happy with the new gleam and think it makes the game look a load better, overall.

After reading this

Quote:

- Implemented HDR rendering and bloom effect. If you experience any rendering problems, turn off HDR rendering in setup or the options screen.
- Added pixel & vertex shader to the rendering engine.
- Implemented bump map rendering support - no models currently use this functionality yet.

i needed new pants

awesome!

Its very nice, but you may want to strongly considering lowering the saturation of the bloom a small amount. You can see a little bit of bleeding when it comes to stars and other extremely bright objects (especially on planets too), and it tends to look a little too like the makeup dripping off a 40 year old burn victims face.

Not hating on any 40 year burn victims, but thats a good discription.

HDR enabled for me means the models are blurry and slightly transparent.
OFF is fine.,. mm
might be a gfxcard setting perhaps?

HDR off is fine, except that I'm not liking the new particle cannon trails, they look like dotted lines... like the borders around coupons you cut out.

HDR on, and everything is bright and fuzzy like a flashback scene from a movie.

Couple of things

Coming out of a jump lags the screen
If in orbit of a planet and you fire missles they don't show up unless you leave orbit.

things are more blurry as others have said

the suns are far too big and bright.

And just so the standard blame the computer reply cannot be used lets include that info.

Beams are beautiful.
But guns are not. Looks like a stream of dot. Neither does missiles. Too blurry I think.

However, I may admit that the new effect hurt my eyes a bit. Vision is smooth and bright, vivid. However when multiple ships flying around, I can't tell who's shooting me, which I can do in 1.541. The screen is tangly cut by beams, ship trails, guns, missles. I guess it's too blurry.

The vision is also too glossy. The ammunition explosion's effect somehow turns into a flash ball. A <30 hull Kluth ship seems to swim inside 2 clouds: one yellow one blue instead of on fire.

The new graphics is quite glistenning. But when there are many actions going on in one screen, it may hurt the eyes.

AMD sucks!

I am happy with the improvements to the graphics, I have actually gotten a rise in framerate. Not to mention the desync is gone from what i can see due to the new replication system. Energy will need to be completely rebalanced now that it doesn't mysteriously drain from desync. I have seen situations where your energy was literally draining faster, just because the screen had more to render. (probably due to energy being calculated client side) At this point, however, energy is way more efficient, and the visual effects got a bit better, I am happy with it.
