Combat Dreadnought is the "general purpose" DN while the Missile Dreadnought is specialized, so why is the MD lower rank? Most people have absolutely zero clue how to use a MD when they first get it and just fly it because it's the first Dreadnought they have access to, then proceed to do horribly bad with them. It's often mocked as the "n00b dread" and can easily be a detriment rather than an asset in inexperienced hands, which is usually the case when someone starts flying one.

Keeping the badge requirements is good, but can the rank req be swapped making Combat Dread VA and Missile Dread Admiral?

They should drop the requirements for the other dreads and not increase the MD.

People earn pres to fly the big ships, you cannot take that away from them.

a MD has double trouble when its alone, and that the only way to get pres in it if is you are in a fleet of combat ships, and your shooting at something thats a dread or above, cruisers can easily escape your missle volley, so most VAs just go back to the HC or the AC (if they unlocked it)

UGTO players also take out the Carrier Dread/Agincourt Dread and use them at point blank range...

I don't recommend letting VAs use the Battle Dread instead of the long-range versions, but it's up to vets to try our best to tell (yell) at people who misuse their first dreads.

thanks for bringing back memories of thor's hammer "telling" me about me using a carrier dread as a frontline combat ship, i was doing that just to get to my BD faster.

ah, memories

LOL @ MD. I avoided that ship just like Kluth stations (and the plague) when I played ICC.

A HC or AC would be a better bet than that flying coffin.

I love making MD's spin helplessly while my Claw shoots them in the back until they explode.

Even better, when the MD has... MORE MD back up. All the enemy missiles plough straight into the dread I'm attacking.

Every time I see a missile dread, I always see it as a giant sign that says "FREE PRES HERE, COME AND GET IT!". It even put me off dreads when I flew as ICC.

Only real use it has is to combat a fleet of UGTO stations that are approaching your planet. Out side of that, it's a joke.

Not sure why the other two factions start off with dreads that can go toe to toe.

tl;dr: Switching the rank for CD with MD is a good idea.

Uh, there was a time when Tier 1 Dreads (Carrier Dreadnaught, etc.) were actually 2nd Rear Admiral.

See people think that just because they earned their prestige they get to decide what their prestige is worth.

It is true you have earned your prestige, but its up to the Development team and ultimately Faustus to decide what its worth. To be honest, prestige is a cake walk to get. You can get to Vice Admiral in less than a week. Once you get those ships though, you can make the same amount of prestige in one day. Too easy.

I really could live with that. I just wish the badges weren't even easier to get for them.

i always wondered why vets were asking why did i get a torp cruiser unlike everyone else that got vice admiral grabed a carrier dread.

give you a tip you would not catch me dead or alive in a md because i would never be in one.

and if you managed to find me in a carrier chances are i have a precomputed nav point for a jump and your back at square one.

Carrier and Missile dreads are usually toast in the face of assault cruisers and dreads.

The way I see it...

Carrier dreads are almost useless, as they carry very few fighters. And fighters in DS lack teeth.
CDs need to carry more fighters, and these fighters really need tweaking to buff their lethality.

Missiles dreads are actually useful, but defenceless when jumped.
I propose that the ICC MD be given a faster JD recharge, equivalent to their cruisers, to give them a better chance of survival. This will also give them better mobility for strategic positioning.

Carrier Dreads are overall more useful than MD because Fighters can be used sucessfully against smaller ships, even Scouts. Aside from the Agincourt which is strictly long ranged, the standard Carrier Dread can even go toe to toe with Destroyers/Cruisers because of the cannons/QST so they're mostly balanced, and on the rare occasion I play UGTO in Scen I enjoy flying them.

Not really sure about giving MD faster JD recharge though, honestly I see MDs as needing to be protected with an Interdictor and some escorts, then you'd see far less of them getting point jumped and punched in the face until they fall over and stop moving. If people would use them in such a way instead of just getting a fleet of MDs and little else there would be far less problems, unfortunately a lot of people who get AD use them exclusively and drop MD entirely, so it's mostly people who can't use any other DNs using them.....bringing us back to the issue in my original post.

Yeah i don't use the MD. Way to weak. I finally unlocked the assault cruiser, so im using that until i get the combat dread.

its not that the MD is too weak, its that ship based PD is too strong. before that change MD's used to the bane in a ugto station/dred fleet.
