or it could be just a massive EMP weapon that disables the structrues to the point of uselessness.

the weapon just vaporize the planets core, and the planet implode within a couple seconds
but MIs are so smart, the can build planets out of space-dust, so we only see a blank planet =P

I just realised what they remind me of... when the ori first appear in SG-1 and their ships had deathbeams that destoyed all others in 1 shot
