At first the idea of a MI that can flatten an entire planet in one shot was a brilliant idea, it really adds to the storyline of the game and how MI are super powerful.

After playing with it in place though I start to question the whole point of it. It seems the MI have this longhead which can jump in at range and if you dont stop it in time then it will destroy the entire colony in one shot regardless of anything.

I have dropped inf on a longhead only to watch it keep on going and then destroy the planet that took me 40 mins to take/hold and 20 mins to build.

That being said, random MI incursions make the game more interesting, but then you put into it the fact that MI can be captured by players and used by UGTO, ICC or K'luth then you have an issue in my opinion.

Many people have said over the last few days how much they hate having to defend against Longheads and how much it gets really boring when all they do all day is destroy/capture longheads while also dealing with a hostile invasion.

Today I found the final straw in this for me. A single MI destroyed all our SY planets within 20 mins. No one was able to stop it and everyone was out fighting UGTO/ICC in the nextdoor system. That being said, the system is now open to invasion and there is NOTHING we can do about it besides spawn in our home gate and then push on through. The damned thing didn't even bother going for random planets, it just went for all our SYs and bam, gone, done. UGTO sitting there laughing away as their captured behemoth runs rampant throughout the game.

:rage:

i think haveing the MI death beam is a good thing it adds depth to the game something it was in need of. althoght it dose suck when all the sy's in tei ceti are all blown up at the same time.

How are we supposed to stop the ICC/UGTO taking over the MV when a random longhead turns up and takes out or feet?

What Should happen is that the MI turns up with a longhead and some support ships. It takes near enough forever to reach its target but ones it does then it does indeed destroy the planet. The MI should then attempt to capture and build the planet into a MI rock of doom instead of just destroying and moving on. If you want depth, that'll do it.

That means instead of logging on to find half your system has been totalled then captured/built by damned AI engineers you'd find the odd MI planet sat there, you'd have to spend time re-capturing it instead of just getting pissed off that it took you the better part of half an hour to build that planet and a random AI just nuked it.

:rage moment:

Hell, if we continue having longheads teh way they are why not just give everyone back bomb stacking so that bomber destroyers can instant kill a planet like the good old days. It is EXACTLY the same as bomb stacking just more annoying.

That sounds nasty...

Never really knew what the did until now.

I've done battle with these things a few times and they are a nasty foe to exchange fire with, for it packs a much bigger punch then I can dish out.

If its targeting Shipyard planets only, then I can only assume its some what player controlled / ordered around and the ship yard planets are targeted on purpose, I highly doubt its the AI doing so.

AI that is capable to killing planets as fast as you describe they can, they should not be able to be captured and be destroyed instead.

I suggest that the Longhead spawn should be few and far between. So that you will only see 2 a day (max) being used.

I also suggest that MI should jump in at 2000gu and move forward. It isn't like MI are known for being slow and to be honest if theres a longhead on the other side of the system you're not going to get to it in time at the moment before it fries the planet.

Just be glad they don't turn those beams on us. They wreck stuff~ Beta already showed me how much. (one-shot Stations with 8 def enh)

Making them uncapabble would be a major step forward.

All MI ships have the ability to glass planets, not just the Longhead.

No, sorry I just have clarified. Only the main battle class-ships of the MI have them (ie the ones you usually see shooting you).

The Nexus 14 has a nice special version of it .
