Since the new Sagitarius map is online, i think 3 days now,
i cant play. Too much lag, is it only me?

My computer is not top of the line and scenario runs normal.
Lag occured before sometimes but not this heavy as it is now.
Any ideas? ty.

When the "lag" hits, you should press Alt + P. Look at Latency and UDP, as well as FPS.

Only one of these is real "lag" - that's the one involving latency and actually means you are seconds behind everyone due to the way data is communicated. The FAQ has some information if you're using a firewall or router - port forwarding may help somewhat in this regard.

If your FPS drops really low, it means it's time for a new computer, or to play with graphics set to low. There's really nothing that can be done with regards to that otherwise as it is client-side, not server-side.

The only reason the map would be to blame is an FPS issue, and FPS issues are personal problems, time to buy a new graphics card.

It will be addressed... are bit too many planets got put into sag.. which is slowing everything down.

Thanks for the replys.

It looks like i need a new graphics card.
It was working before but now my limit seemed to be reached.

I spawned as icc and had this values:

-resolution: 1024x768
-full screen (not windowed)
-Latency: 265 ms
-FPS: 21. - 32.28
-UDP: 102ms
-CPU: 2.818.

textures and graphics to lowest.

When i went to cincinati where the action took place
FPS dropped to 4.0

That's low performance, and not lag. Lag is when the latency between yourself and the server becomes above an acceptable number. Low FPS is when your machine looks like it's displaying pictures rather than a game.

You'll need to update your machine if you're getting 4 FPS in combat. Try and make sure your Graphics Detail is set to low in the options, as that will help.

Lowering then number of planets in Sag will not help your situation.

Giving us your system specs and other info might help us identify the bottleneck (if there is one). In the least we can attempt to speed things up.

Yeah I noticed more lag or desync lately. My framerates are ok.

Thing is I noticed ships exploding, being destroyed by player X,
then 3 secs later, player X jumps in firing.

Weird.

Your latency is high when you're in Cin because UGTO and ICC exchanged too many missiles and fighters.

I would suggest playing at a lower resolution...like 800x600...though your graphics will really take a hit from that

Did you try lowering the ship/missile trails to the lowest possible value?

It looks like 800x600 resolution is the only thing that works for me in mv now.

In scenario on the other hand i may play with all settings on highest.

Because in the MV all the planets and players are kept in your Ram buffer in your card. So that when you got to look at them it all loads instantly, more planets in MV means more ram used in the buffer. Scen, not so many planets to keep track of so it will run smoother on lower end systems.

As for me, everything runs fine, only slowdown I ever experience is when we do a massive missile spam. Frame-rate will slow down to 30ish, and thats just the games engine unable to handle such a high poly count of missiles (were talkin 4+ SS's and 7+ MD's plus all the fighters of both ICC and UGTO). I know its not my system at all (core i7 920 @2.66ghz, 6gb Dual chann DDR3, Twin Geforce 260 GTX 896mb ea), that and I can run Medal of Honor (new one) beta just fine at max max (1680x1050, max for my monitor, and highest settings). (reason I mention that game as its the newest thing I can think of for a game engine).

I would suggest that the devs take a look at the "post your system specs" thread that was done not too long ago. To get a feel of the demographic of the systems this game is run on. From the Very High end (like mine and a few others) to joe shmo's store bought computer.
