Air? No. Atoms and substances? Yes. Extremely fast space dust is actually a problem when in orbit, not to mention radiation.

This game then should be played on "mute"... except you can hear sounds when a weapon hits your ship causing it to rattle/explode.

Obviously, the sounds you hear are actually extrapolated effects synthesised by your Mega SoundChair based on sensor readings and the occasional gust of oh-so-tenuous interstellar dust/gas.
A billion bonus points if you know where I got THAT from.

That's complete hogwash.
The lack of an atmosphere in space means that there is nothing to impede sound, ergo it is in fact louder.

Then explain to me why earth has an atmoshpere that can support life and mars is too harsh.

Doesn't sound require particles to be heard?

That's also why it's easier for spacecraft to maneuver and do things like barrel rolls.

Pro Vrs Con............
Pro.......
If you are refering to oxygen then I have to say there is air in space somewhere in the vastness of space as there is so much space out there then you would have to belive that there must be a pocket of gas like a nebula of the perfect combination of breathable oxygen for humans.
although air in its definition simply means the friction of molecules against an atmosphere such as the air in a bloon although most likely helium can be considered air in it own right or like blowing air into someones face wich would be carbon dioxide still is called air.
in any case the chances of finding breathable air in space are just as likely as if one were to see a black whole..... although in mathmatics and physics it does exist. In reality we have yet to really see one, simply that the math tells us it is there.... so in essence you must have faith in math like a religion and yet many scientist dont belive in a lot of things that require faith.... but math ohhh if it say its there in a calculation they dont need to see it lol......AMEN!!!!!
on another note considering that obviously we arent the only species in the universe then there must be other forms of breathable material in which other beings can process as we do oxygen.................
Con......
space is a vaccum and although planets are in space they are not a part of space as they have mass where space does not....
when an object reaches a size capable of holding an atmosphere from the vaccum of space then space simply becomes another medium and thus any atmosphere strong enough to hold together in the vaccum of space is not part of that vaccum and could be said to be another part of space in which there is no vaccum. so then since space is a vaccum then it must be true that a planet like this earth is not a part of space but just simply floating in the gravity well of our nearest star the Sun while in the vaccum of space.

Yes. He wasn't being serious. He was sarcastic as hell - and it was AWESOME! [ This Message was edited by: ThePile on 2010-07-17 06:37 ]
