what about some fun-stuff for specific seasons ?
nothing serious, eg:
- replace bullets for halloween with pumpkins (+the week before and after it)
- replace bullets for christmas with snowflakes or presents
- add a christmas-hat on ships for christmas
- replace bullets with easter-eggs
maybe some serious stuff too:
- special "enemys" connected to special seasons dropping some special enhancements (100% drop, but enhancement is unique)
- enhancement could be something like
--"ship have always a christmas-hat"
--(if possible) ship have another color

more seasonal ideas:
new year:
- on december the 31st and january the 1st all planets celebrate, shooting missles in every direction (or just usual projectiles) up to 100gu above planet surface 
halloween:
- planets get a darker layout
- maybe the night-side have lights, showing a pumpkin

pirates day:
- all ships get remoddeled to "real" pirate-ships
(eg: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:English_Galleon_Model.jpg)
- chat get a filter, adding "Arr" and something like that to every post
still thinking about something for zombie-day
... maybe luth stations as big braaaaaaaaaaaaains....

Perhaps, we can add an elite called "Santa Claws" ... who will try to ravage all the planets in the MV, and players must stop him..
