Because a player gives himself an advantage for the next map this way,
not a big deal and i dont care if people do so.
Also the time you spent saveing res, you kind of betray the others
not working with them.
Its a little selfish and is somehow "playing the system" and not "playing the game".
And once again: Its just another way to DEAL with the res fee.
All this new stuff like: "Abolish the scen timer, save res in garage, give us
more mining, transport capacitys..."
This will not bring back the old flow..
but enough whining , i got to deal with it for now.

lets say u have an sy planet that needs res. instead of a bunch of people mining it, build up several mining planets and be sure to add a starport to all of them including teh sy planet!! from what i noticed from a recent game... there was a lot of dread spawning with not as much mining. im not super sure that this was exactly what happened but i think this is what the devs had in mind.

I've noticed the opposite lately btw. The AI spend their time constantly moving the resources around, and no one planet gets most of them. If you put a starport on your sy, it's guaranteeing it will never have enough resources for dreads or stations.
At this point the game is not worth playing. It's too easy for someone to steal the resources you worked for either building or mining. You get a team of people building, defending, extracting, and when it's finally ready for the first person to get his ship (predetermined, it's called "teamwork") some person you didn't even know was on your team spawns a ship and uses up all the resources. There goes the agreement your team made on who gets what ships in what order.
If you're looking to bring more people into this game this isn't the way to do it.
EDIT: The queue should help immensely, but how long is it gonna take to go live?

Maybe be able to set a priority marker for the AI transports to drop resources onto a planet from planets that have starports?
But I think this idea must have been discussed already.

1. Stupid AI. It should be possible to set straport to "export only" and "import only"
2. It should be possible to set a limit below that neither AI nor player can take inf from a planet.
3. Players should be able to use resources they have in garage along with resources on the planet. So, if the planet has 80k res the guy who never mined cant get a dread - only a cruiser. But if you have another 100k in your garage - you can get a dread. If you want a dread badly you can mine for it all along. But this is slow already and will be bested by enemy teamwork. So this one is kinda balanced. Should be easy to implement since no UI changes have to be done. [ This Message was edited by: 4ert on 2010-07-13 03:47 ]

I'm changing my play style in scenario now. Rather than get frustrated when mining for a ship and someone steals it, I'm gonna build like I like to do but not worry about getting the large ships at all. I'll stay in frigates.
This avoids seeing the resources I was mining for my ship being stolen by someone camping the ship select screen. It's not an ideal solution at all, but until the queue system is live it's the only way I can avoid getting frustrated.
When I got frustrated yesterday however, I wasn't even planning on getting a ship. I built the shipyard planet for my team while they mined and defended it, and they worked out a ship spawning order among themselves. Then along comes someone we didn't even know was on the team, my guess is because he was sitting at the ship select screen waiting, and all of the mining they did and the agreement they made was flushed down the toilet. I got pissed, and I wasn't even waiting for a ship. I can't let that frustrate me.
(hat made it worse was the laughing by the person in his new dread. That just got my blood boiling)

A build queue will make it easier for ship selection campers.
Now the can just place an order and play in a frig and when their ship is done they hop into it.
Whats worse is you know you are mining for him but you can't do anything about it.

Just a thought...
We could add a "Mining Platform" ... which mines resources and dumps them on to the planet it's orbiting.

That would be great big F. you(devs) would however have to set to drop when full, maybe at 5 k res with the current mining beam rate

To Mr.Sparkle:
If there is somone steeling your res and not listening to your complains
you may deactivate the sy.
Then shortly activate to let the next in the line grab his/her ship.
No use if you are outranked,ok..
We had a 12 year old kid, spawning new ships every 5 minutes lol.
But how to get mad at a prematured?
edit: + From another thread:
Devs working on it but untill then:
Deactivate Starport on Sy if there is about 100k res.
This way you avoid AI taking res away again.
Then get res manualy from mining planets, with a cargo of 50k its fastly done. [ This Message was edited by: perihelion on 2010-07-14 07:50 ]

oooo mining platform is great idea, but can you add the script of dumping res onto planet to extractors and engineers? i see them mine but never unload
And i saw this on other thread:
make a mining bonus to inferno planets?
i mean the res is there melted, just waiting to be extracted
