As for badges, get them in scen, don't farm AI and just be 24/7 combat. LEARN the rest of the game, thats why the badges are there so you MUST know at least X part of the game before you can keep on with your combat fix. ICC has a different set of reqs before you can fly them, as UGTO is the noob faction so there reqs are lower then ICC or Kluth.

UGTO is a great faction to learn the basics with,... ..... .. . .!! I spose you could say that,. but if your learning and playing in scenario I'm gonna bet your choosing all 3 factions,. probably favouring Kluth or ICC.
Why you ask?
Cuz Kluth has cloak and massive damage and ICC is the Long range missile faction with shields,. shields owwwii,. + (sorry not +, that should be x) Defence mode (You realize in duels the other factions now have to kill you two or three times,. to the one? lol)!!
Being the "middle" faction,. we are given specialised armors,. Fast repairs through supply, and pretty good damage on average (ya'll know how it works,. up close it hurts alot,. at 900 it hurts a little.. *^*0VVN/\GE*^*
If UGTO were to exploit all of their strengths all the time,. like changing armor quickly to suit the enemy,. and maybe if all this would be done automatically,. then we could be the n00b faction,. cuz anyone could play it,. but as it stands I see far more n00bs on ICC cuz of their perks,. and to be honest, I was one of them n00bs a year ago on ICC,. doing really really well...
Halfway through 1st Rear Admiral. I joined up with Steveyk and UGTO and basically got no-where for a very long time,... Damn those cloaking kluth!!
And ICC and UGTO basically have the same ship rank requirements,. Kluth is the only high ranking faction isn't it?

UGTO is a easier faction
ICC have to learn to rotate their shields to keep up with ugto durability
Kluth have to learn cloak, otherwise theyre toast
but apart from being easier / more difficult -> goldstar is a easy badgde

If UGTO has superior numbers, UGTO will outlive/outlast/outplay both factions,. pretty much proven,. I aint talking about this station spam watever either.
UGTO also has the tools to beat both factions even if slightly to moderately disadvantaged,.. . using their equipment to their advantage. Tell me why would you not equip your transport with reflective armor if the only weapon that hits you is beams?
The only reason you seen a Kluth and ICC alliances since two weeks past is because UGTO has been en masse, and not because of superior tactics.
In conclusion: UGTO is the pro-veteran faction,. dare only venture if you wanna die or RULE!!

The ICC long ago took control of all known supplies and recepies for Cheese in the universe, as well as all of the unknown ones. S.W guards these secrets dearly and with many many lives... not their lives, that would be silly, they take the lives of anyone too curious
It has long been the standard that in the difficulty progression UGTO > ICC > K'Luth. A lot of it is based on energy management, as well as the necessity to multitask & think and react quickly in battle. When you have the high energy supplies and ability to tank a bit more damage that the UGTO does you can take your time to decide your next move more. ICC shields and/or energy will fold a lot faster, so you need to be able react quicker and know the situation of the battle field with a quicker glance. K'Luth do have the ability to sit there under cloak and survey the battle field, but a single ping and you can be into the red reeeeally fast... everything happens faster for K'Luth due to shorter supplies of energy, and thinner armor.
In the six years I've paid attention, that has changed very little. The details and nuances have changed drastically, but that's what the overall picture seems to be.
