i counted ship-classes backward, skipping station+ and dread+ (would be too extreme)

what the "+" exactily means is another point...
maybe more hull
maybe more dmg
maybe another weapon-layout
maybe the "+"-ship is treated as a level higher than the normal ship (scout+ = normal frig-level (2)) applying to weapons, ammo, gadgets

some other ideas:

-enhancements only accessible by marshalls (increase accuracy of jump drive/wh device, increase JD speed/wh duration, slowly train loaded infantry to hardened, increase resistance to being boarded, etc.)
-some additional game system (e.g. persistent bridge crews)

i like the idea of them having mass-commands, that would be pretty useful.

re: orders generally, is there any way to prevent a CM griefing an entire team because no one can stop him/her from issuing stupid orders?

re: minelayer platform - i was imagining a platform with 5 mine launchers that slowly rotates while firing mines that slowly drift out to say 300gu before detonating, so you wind up with a starfish, spiral shaped minefield.
