To not be just a jerk, I've also decided to be a -- nevermind.

Anyway, some of us managed to cap the Scenario server at full on sunday, and we came to have a nice battle in open space. UGTO VS ICC, Dreads, Cruisers and Destroyers, even Frigates. Even some YO DAWG I HURD U LIEK DICTORS SO I DICTORED YOUR DICTOR SO YOU CAN DICTOR WHILE YOU DICTOR action going on, and stuff.

Musical dissonance is my hobby and joy, so hey!

I'll be uploading the other videos as we go, and it should probably all work tomorrow or thursday. Some quality loss from YouTube, but if anyone wants I can upload the videos I downscaled a little from Fraps. It's about ~300mb for an 8-minute video, and I have them in segments of around~4~5 minutes, so I think it'd be around 200mb, 720p HD. It actually looks better than YouTube, but there's no audio included.

I only wish I could've cut out the part where I'm blatantly friendly firing an ally, but I dunno I guess I wasn't thinking. I also belatedly realise I had set my HEAVY beam to point defence when I shift-spacebar'd.

Also, yes, I AM mashing that spacebar. :b It's a Combat Dreadnought, the only reason I was low on energy is because I Defence Mode!

Nice vid! If you have the raw MWV file I can upload it and probably get better quality out of it before youtube LAWLS all over it.

I thought I'd pick a slightly more dramatic audio sequence this time... well, it's loading a bit odd right now due to the audioswap still being in progress but it's viewable to me! ... something like that.

I missed a sequence because I derp'd it up a little. ;o

I've got up until the last moments when I tried to transport rush the planet. :S (and died miserably, I refuse to show those fragments!)

Bard, you need to learn to STAY ON TARGET. Shesh in about 10 seconds there you fired at 6 different targets. Learn to pick a target and keep on it till it dies and in a CD, you need to do that as your damage dealing ability's are low at best. However, nice vid looks like a good fight overall.

Lolno. You should think more about why I switched targets. You'll note most targets I switched away from either jumped away seconds later, or got an ally flying in front of them, or got to a weapon arc that isn't optimal for the CD (broadsides).

I refuse to spend precious seconds in combat not shooting when I could be shooting. The point of combat is to shoot enemies, not to try and maneuvre in a way to have a clear shot because your allies are in the way.

You were in an interdictor field, they were going to jump away. If an ally is going to get in the way, then you can turn against them to minimize the amount of time they are in the way. Also the CD isn't a broadside ship, missiles are pointless on that and you do the same amount of cannon damage as you do on the front. However the CD has TWO Ion cannons that only will fire both off the front, also you will have 3 Heavy Cannons and a normal cannon firing off the front as well. Vs 2 Heavy's and 3 normal 1 IC and 2 piddly missiles that will get PDed down, on the side of your ship. So the real damage a CD dose in on the front of the ship, not the side. Until the CD gets some much needed redesign love, it will remain like that.

I play DS all the time, and watching that video it still looks bloody awesome.

I guess it's just kinda hard to notice the true epicness of these battles if you're in the middle, concentrating on what you're doing.

Am I wrong in assuming that ONCE AGAIN uggies have no stations? I haven't been in a scenario in a while where uggies actually get stations.

Plus, am I the only one who divides all weapons into separate groups? I always set standard projectiles to 1, lasers to 2, missiles/torps to 3, core weps to 4. And then I mash spacebar till everything dies .


Plus I'd like to point out that broadsides in a CD mean you are holding distance. CDs suck up close. Bard's hull damage, armor damaged, and shields nearly down. It was better to keep distance than be moving closer by pointing towards the enemy.
