Nec touched on this idea briefly but I think he was on to somthing.

Dreadnaughts and stations have heavy versions of previous weaponry. Heavy Psi cannons/Pcannons/Rails and core weapons are really just heavy torpedoes.

The suggestion comes that missles are infact not heavy but advanced and have a minimum range, making them ineffective at close range combat. (please note I am not saying any side is weak, just keeping missles in mind.)

A heavy Salbot rocket on a dreadnaught. Its slow moving so doesn't have to worry about being OP but in my opinion it could be used to great advantage in this game.

Think about the current military and their rocket barrage weapons mounted on attack craft. Unguided missle barrage. The weapon should be like regular Salbot rockets in animation, although slightly bigger/more of them and they should have their refire rate adjusted to represent the annoyance of reloading a giant rack of missles on a dreadnaught. The weapon should have increase damage or more missles than the normal salbot rocket.

All races can benefit from this and there is even the possibility for a 'Gunship' varient on a cruiser for ICC. (I say ICC because out of all the races to benefit from missles they seemed the best option to use as a specialist cruiser.) The missles will be unguided so that they cannot be used to just spam an area and will have a range slightly longer than normal Salbot rockets.

If I knew the specifications of salbot rockets, their damage and range I would quote some modified statistics of what the rocket should be like.

This would increase the amount of variations of weaponry on ICC ships and give them a slightly better close range weapon but also keeping within their ideals of using missles. It doesn't make much sense to give a close range dreadnaught like the AD or CD a missle or two and lots of beams considering the fact that once you are in range of beams the missles cannot fire due to being too close.

Any ideas on this?

(yes I would assume that more ICC dreads would have this upgrade than UGTO and no you cannot put them on K'luth ships. We don't need more firepower)

Somthing you may also want to consider: Salbot rockets are pretty weak at the moment, in my opinion, so a heavy salbot rocket might makes things more interesting.
