So I asked Shig a question in the lobby this morning about the aux shield and this is why I made this post.

Recently and I just checked the ships in my garage to back this up, when I switch out an aux fusion for a shield it is mapping it to a certain shield arc, not a neutral one like NP5 that its suppose to be. Which I have found to be a little detremental since say on my CD it is mapped to NP6 and when I divert shields to that one it is reinforcing the aux shield with power also. It is also mapping it to a different key everytime. I checked the Guppy I had in my garage and when I swapped them all out it went like 4 6 8 all had and aux shield mapped to it instead of just 5.

So has this happened to anyone else or am I just "special"?

Device mountings.
Yes, device mountings.
No wonder we dont see UGTOs having 5 fore plates of armor and 3 backup which cover the other sides.
No wonder we dont see a missile cruiser which ACTUALLY uses all its missiles in a fore position.
No wonder CDs cant mount their wrongfully-side-mounted missiles on fore.

Concise? The auxilliary shield generators are mounted the same as their alternatives. The CD has it on sides, the M277 and M248C have a aux shield gen on the fore and 2 aux gens on sides.
*Tries to mount all cannons of his combat dessy on fore* Cheers.

Ok apparently I didnt specifiy this enough. Yes I understand the device mounting thing and yes I do use the mouse on occasion to divert energy there but isnt the device suppose to be on a neutral one that reinforces ALL arcs not just a specific side?

My main point is, is this a bug or did this get changed somewhere along the road and I just didnt know about it, because I remember when I first started playing or could first use a ship that had the ability to equip one that it was always set to the NP5 key.

Sigh...
Is my post not explanatory enough? I'll go technical, and MORE descriptive now...

When you began, you had ships with aux shield gens, or shield gens that you refitted on your vessel. My point, YOU WILL NOTICE THEY HAVE FORE-RIGHT-LEFT-AFT mountings. Thus, the thing about them hotkeyed to NumPad5 is because 5 is the most evident hotkey.

Now, you have ships with aux gens which are mounted on one side. The game DOES NOT recognise different mountings and hotkeying for shield devices other than the evident one.

As far as hotkeying is concerned...I don't know whether they allow remapping of the shield hotkeys. Good luck at it...
Cheers.

Aux gens no longer are mounted on all arcs like they used to be. If they were it would map to NUM5. Stations have the worst time of it, as they can have 3 shields on each facing. 2, not worth mentioning, aux shield gens and its normal shield. When you hit the button to rotate into the shield getting hit, it fill BOTH the aux and the normal, not just the normal shield.

There is no bug, the '5' hotkey is indeed used for full mount shields but those only exist for extractors. Aux shields are now on the gadget arc and unchangeable.
