AR missiles track better, but do less damage if i remind right.
So IT missiles suit better for larger static targets, doing more damage.
Then when you rank up to Admiral i think, you may use the improved
MK II versions of AR or IT. (Not sure if thats right, please correct me)

ok little error there, MKII missles are fitted to HC which means before Adm rank. Other then that this is a very good answer. (just wanted to correct a small mistake)

Only a noob Kluth would stay still in a hostile environment.

How do you detonate missiles?

shift spacebar detonates all anti-ship rounds fired, but also sets your PD on for some reason (... can this be fixed? =D). shift space again or ctrl b to set back off.
shift n recalls fighters
shift b detonates bombs

also, for ICC pilots, do not forget that you can rotate your shields: use the arrow keys on your numpad to rotate shields to the shield facing being shot at.

From my personal experience I'd say no, ICC frigates are the worst of the 3. Sensor Corvette has nearly the same armament as an Assault Frigate and is harder to kill if the pilot is competent, Sensor Frigate is outclassed by the Recon Scout, and the Bomber Frigate is only good if you're not being shot at. Can't really comment on the new Missile Frigate since I haven't gotten the chance to try it yet because beta always crashes on me for some reason.

Defense Frigate, however, is always useful until you can fly one of the supply ships.

lol i think you misread my post...i meant figs as in fighters that are carried by carriers...i was trying to ask if the carriers for icc were good...but yes icc frigates are not good at all. Anyway i am just looking for a high dmg alternative to the very low damage dealing icc ships...

Just wanted to add to this:

Right click on your gadgets and press a number 1-9(above the letters, not the numpad) to assign a hotkey. Setting it to 0 will clear the hotkeys for that gadget.

Once set, you can shift+number to detonate all weapons fired from the gadget with that number. This also prevents the PD from being toggled.

Also @Morton, havent tested it yet, but try setting shields to 6 7 8 and 9 and see if using those hotkeys will allow you to rotate shields. Being on a laptop myself, I have wondered the same thing and this is all I came up with(short of using the Fn key or getting a usb numpad)

There are no high damage alternatives for ICC ships, what you see is what you get. Fighters are usually good en masse or in conjunction with missiles, otherwise PD just shoots them down before they get to do much.

Yes, unless you're using that Carrier in conjunction with other Carriers or Missile ships. A single Carrier or Missile ship (the exception being a Missile Dreadnought) is rather ineffective by itself unless the target has no point defenses.
