Hi.

I figured this might help people who want to test Beta, but don't want to wait for it to install. It is rather slow.

Anyway, if a mod can move this to the appropriate section later if it doesn't fit here...

---

STEP 1: Find out where you installed DarkSpace. For example, C:\PaleStar\GameCQ. I will proceed assuming you know where your GameCQ folder is!

STEP 1b: To find out where your GameCQ folder is, and you use a short-cut from the start menu to open the GCQL, do this: navigate to the icon, right-click it. Select "Properties", and look at the path name. It'll specify where your folder is!

If you need help with this part, feel free to post here.

STEP 2: Open the GameCQ folder, and then the .Cache folder. You will see either:

1 Folder named DarkSpace
OR
2 Folders, one named DarkSpace, the other DarkSpaceBeta

If you have only one folder, right-click an empty space, New -> Folder, and name it DarkSpaceBeta.

STEP 3: Open your DarkSpace folder. Use CTRL + A, or Edit -> Select All to select all files in it. Then use CTRL + C, or Edit -> Copy to copy the files.

STEP 4: Open your DarkSpaceBeta folder. Hit CTRL + V, or Edit -> Paste to paste the files to the new folder.

STEP 5: Restart GCQL.

STEP 6: In GCQL, go to the Launch tab and select "DarkSpace Beta". It should be installed now, but you want to Update it first.

STEP 7: Log in to the Beta Sagittarius server. Post feedback on the Beta forums, praise the staff, do a jaunty dance.

Happy Beta-testing!
As of this writing there are Frigate lay-outs to check and a new ICC shield system, as well as changes to the current Enhancements. So go check it out.

To save time don't copy the *.tga images if you have any.

Nice tip, I've been meaning to try beta anyway and this just makes it easier.

* Shigernafy @29 sent to Friends: "wait, so I should stop installing beta?"

... a bump appears necessary...

People still think Beta needs to be downloaded, so a bump and people can remember that, "No, you are the downloads".
