Sounds reasonable. But the novelty behind adding ranks without perks or benefits (other than rank bragging rights) will also wear off eventually.
Perhaps there're some things still within the context of the game, or easy to implement that you could give them.
- Added garage space?
- The ability to customize every weap slot on a ship/station?
(With limitations of course... core weaps for core weaps, light weaps for light weaps.)
- Ability to give commands to a limited number of AI ships? (attack, defend, follow, shadow, support)
