the other day i got thinking and started wonder why the ships dont all have more armor/sheilds. i relize that the icc shields just got changed around recently, but if all ships of all factions had much more armor -say 50-100% more???- and just leave the wepons how they are now, would it not increase combat in DS? people in smaller ships wouldnt be horrified to see a nearby enemy dreddy...as much. Alot of us would love to see more combat and of corse when there nothing happenening its often pretty boring. would this also change which ships from different factions would be best agains other ships (ex./k'luths weak armor --> ugto's stronger armor, would give ugto the advantage for longer drawn out attacks (except for the cloak and wait for ur armor/hull to repair for a few min then attack again, of luthies))...but i could be wrong???

so why or why not?

ok now u guys can rip me limb from limb...gently pls? pls???

I'd rather increase hull values to reduce the ammount of pansies we have :/

the key would be to have just enguph to make battles longer but not to much that it would bog the game down and make it unrealistic

Anyone who possibly thinks that battles are too "fast".

Honestly, I support the reverse. Less armor/shields, alot more hull. If people don't see their hull suddenly hit the ground after a few hits, they'll actually stick around to keep fighting.

And that means people who actually hit hull wont run away instantly. Which means that people will actually get combat prestige off each other. You don't get a damn thing for wasting your shots and shields/armor. And when you're in a destroyer trying to fight another dessy, that is a long ass battle.

Screw that. Battles are too long. Shorten them. Makes them that much more exciting.

make the subcomponents to start fail since like 25% of hull damage taken ...

ofcourse hull HP increase would be welcome but only wiselly (10% overall for starter)

ok now that ive heard some other peoples oppinions i think that just a small hull increase (leave armor/sheilds alown) would be best

lol ya that would be pretty frustrating since thery're so hard to hit.

but what if the hull strength of ships was increased more for larger ships?
so dreddys get maybe 20% and scouts get very little or nothing since they're already so hard to hit? (unless ur pretty much mashing the spacebar from point blank)

This has already happened. it was called .480 lol you DO NOT want to see a scout with dread armor running around. I will agree with the hull increas though.... cept for scouts.

With kluth having auto-hull repair, they would probably benefit the most.

I agree with increasing hull, however I kind of miss the old way that systems used to take damage. Now I really only see system damage right before I'm about to die...


Repair que used to be an important screen.

Of course this might be asking too much, like boosting mines, or asking for torp tracking again

then could each factions hull be changed by different amounts to keep things balanced more?
it'd be nice to see 1 on 1 battles of equal sized ships be real close, such as one ship is at like 10% hull when the other is destroyed when the ships are used properly. or is this already done or as close as its gunna get?
